If you're a frequent reader of my blog, you'll know that I tell the uncomfortable true-true to anyone willing to listen. And even if you don't upvote me, there's a good chance that I'll spend a great deal of my time replying to your thoughtful comments.
Anyway, getting to the topic of this post, I've come to unmask a profiteer in our midst. They're the largest abuser of the system, and they are farming daily to the tune of millions of dollars in value. This PERSON is so god damned slick that not even the benevolent 
I've come here today to speak with you about the blockchain casino gulag. Yes, this PERSON of whom I speak is the blockchain itself. It's farming our collective creativity in ways that the dinosaur social media companies can only dream about. Just look at the below quote from Steem's whitepaper.
This quote proves to me that the author who wrote it, was at the very least, somewhat versed in praxeology. They knew that Steem was going to be addictive like a casino, and they knew that most people would be under-rewarded for their efforts. They also knew that the promise of bigger rewards would psychologically addict some of us to the blockchain, possibly even to our detriment.
Even though their scheme worked, and they are successfully mining creativity in exchange for next to nothing, nary does it change the fact that humans are crotchety and whiney individuals who demand more rewards for themselves. So, some smart people came up with a clever way to incentivize curation so that more content creators get rewards.
Granted, they had to steal from Peter to pay Paul, Tom, Dick, and Harry. Okay, that got strangely phallic, so please pardon my idioms if you don't want hairy dicks in your brain. But it worked, more people are now getting fewer rewards, and special people who generally get votes anyway are getting even higher rewards. Thus the nature of the beast that is taxation.
Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand, the biggest profiteer on the blockchain is the blockchain itself. It knows it, and it's bold enough to include this information in the whitepaper, so it must be proud of this achievement. Regardless of this fact, a lot of us are still here. Are we purely addicted, gambling addicts? Is the dopamine hits that Steem provides better than any other social media company out there?
I don't know the right or wrong answer to these questions. However, the one thing that I can appreciate about steem, even though it's engaging in blatant profiteering for the good of the many and a handful of ninjas, is the fact that it inspires me to create and write silly little articles like this in exchange for peanuts.
