Bienvenidos a "Letras inspiradoras", pónganse cómodas(os) y pasémosla bien.

Nice words don't always work; sometimes we need a dose of harsh truth to wake us up, even if it's just to be contrary—words that inspire us to do something different to change our reality.

I just finished the book My Psychologist Told Me, by Katherine Hoyer and Yulibeth R.G.—a book I found useful, easy to read, not boring at all, and well worth reading. It contains 110 very brief “sessions” (one or two paragraphs each), full of candor.

In the prologue alone, she helps us understand the impact of our decisions on the lives we lead and calls on our conscience by saying that our lives won’t change on their own.

Personally, it provided me with valuable information, motivated me, and helped me see some things from a different perspective.

That's why I thought of suggesting, each week, the topic for each session of the book for this initiative—so that we can learn from the different perspectives we all bring to the table. I hope you like the idea 🤍.

Welcome to "Inspiring Quotes". Make yourselves comfortable, and let's have some fun.

"Session 1: You Have to Be Fed Up to Start Changing"

I hadn't looked at it that way, but now that I read it, it seems so true.

A lot of the time you put up with things, you tolerate them, you try to stay positive, you think you have no other options—and weeks, months, or even years can go by like that—until one day, all of a sudden, you decide to tell it all to the wind and dare to do everything that used to be unthinkable.

That’s how a “I QUIT!” moment happens—whether it’s a job, a relationship, or a lifestyle; the options are endless.

The book states that "only from deep exhaustion... does the decision to change, to take action, to say, 'No more,' arise."

I think there comes a point when the burden becomes so unbearable that we care less about the world and try to save ourselves. It's a survival instinct.
