The rock

The cave is inside this massive boulder along the shores of Lake Dunmore.

Entrance

Looking out the entrance towards Lake Dunmore. The cave is usually associated with the DB Thompson book, "The Green Mountain Boys" a romanticized history of Ethan Allen and the early Revolutionary War.

Pano

Ethan Allen led the Green Mountain Boys in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga on May 10, 1776 - the first American victory in the war. This photo is a pano from inside the cave.

Trail

The hike to the cave is about a half a mile from a campground in Branbury State Park.

Side

Historians doubt Ethan Allen had anything to do with this cave but he was known to camp in the area.

But Ethan Allen is a Vermont hero of the Revolutionary War and earlier skirmishes with New York.

Split rock

There are lots of interesting rock formations in the area like this split rock. Its a pleasant hike even if you are a skeptic 馃檪
