So basically what is happening in this video is a lecture session where they are teaching doctors and nurses about eye care, and I was booked there as the photo and video guy to cover the whole event, and the man you are seeing in the video is the facilitator or the main speaker for that session, he is wearing a light blue native senate wear with a matching fila gobi cap that has that aso oke stripe design, he has glasses on and he is holding a microphone in his right hand while his left hand is resting on the table, he is standing in front of a window with a white roller blind and you can see the shadow of houses outside, behind him on the blind there is a small logo that says something like H and some text under it that is not too clear but it looks like the organization that organized the training, he is talking and gesturing and you can tell from his body language that he is explaining something very important about eye care, maybe how to handle patients or some new method they need to learn.
If you look closely at the environment you will see that this is a small conference room or a training hall, there is a table covered with a cream or light yellow table cloth right beside him, on that table there is an open HP laptop, a tablet or iPad standing beside the laptop, a bottle of table water which is that LaSora or something water brand we use in Nigeria, and a phone and some other things like a power extension on the floor, the chair behind the table is red and black, the wall is painted light blue and white and the floor has tiles, the lighting in the room is very natural coming from the window and it is hitting his blue outfit well, I had to position myself well to capture him because as the videographer you have to make sure the speaker is well framed even though the video came out sideways, but the main thing is the content is clear and audible.
What I was doing there as the photographer was not just to record this man but to document the whole learning process, because this kind of medical training is very important, they are teaching doctors and nurses how to take care of eyes, how to detect eye problems early, how to counsel patients and all that, so my job was to capture moments like this where the facilitator is engaging with the participants, even though you cannot see the audience in this particular clip you can tell from his eye contact and his smile that he is talking to people in front of him and they are listening, he was smiling at some point, nodding, and using his hand to emphasize points, that is the kind of energy you want in a lecture like this so that the doctors and nurses will not be bored, you can see he is very comfortable and confident, not reading from the laptop but speaking from experience.
Honestly this clip is one of the best I took that day because it shows the seriousness and at the same time the calmness of the session, it was not a noisy or rowdy place, it was a focused learning environment, and being booked for this kind of job as a photo/videographer always makes me happy because you learn while you work, even though I am not a medical person I was also picking one or two things about eye care just by listening in the background while recording, so this video basically summarizes the whole purpose of the event, a well dressed professional man standing in a well arranged training room, teaching healthcare workers about eye care, with his laptop and materials beside him, doing what he knows how to do best, and me doing my own part behind the camera to make sure the moment is preserved for future reference and for the organization's records.
