I just finished a 5.244km running that lasted about 0hh:31mm:18ss !
It is staying relatively warm for the time of year, so I was fine in shorts and t-shirt plus my new Allbirds shoes. As usual on a Tuesday I was aiming to do my hill sprints on West Drive. There is an old guy who empties the litter bins and generally tidies up around Arlesey and today he was clearing leaves up there. That is a big job as it is lines will trees all the way up. He must be quite fit.
I started with the standard longer sprint from the bottom of the road. That went pretty well. I was finding I needed a moment at the top to catch my breath each time, so that may be a sign I was trying harder. The graph shows my heartrate rather than pace this time. It seems my body does recover a little between sprints with a max rate of 175bpm dropping to about 145bpm by the time I jogged down again.
I am still the 'local legend' on Strava for that segment by a long way. I think it is a good workout without having to do massive distance. It is the biggest hill within a twenty minutes of home on foot and I do not want to be out too long before starting work.
The local parkrun are short of volunteers again, so I will see if they are desperate by Saturday to decide if I run or help out.
Run free and stay well.
