I really do not know what is going on. I created this post on LeoFinance, but it never appeared on my feed as it did not seem to get to the blockchain. So I edited it to say it should be ignored and re-did it on peakd. Then the original post did materialise and started getting automatic votes, so I have put the text back, but the later copy is not showing up.
Apart from Hive the only social media I am actively using are Facebook for some specific groups and Twitter. The latter I could probably give up as it is not essential, but quite a lot of Hivers use it to promote various things and for events like the weekly #HiveChat. I have had an account there for many years, but was often busy elsewhere. What you use can depend a lot on who you want to follow or hang out with.
I have been getting a fair bit of Hive news from Twitter and been socialising with people there. I tweet about Hive, but also about my other interests. I have over 1000 followers, but do not kid myself that they are all active. I was inspired to try a poll this week to see what sort of mix I had and these were the results.
It seems a large proportion of my active followers are already on Hive, so am I likely to attract new people by talking about it there? I seem to be preaching to the choir. Should I dial back my 'fanboi' side? I just feel that we need to get more people to know about this platform, but we have to present it in ways that do not make it seem like some sort of scam. It obviously is not as we are all earning something.
I will ponder this topic further and decide how I want to proceed. I do not want social media to dominate my life. It already takes up too much time really, but I find it fun.
Meanwhile, I see the @splinterlands Twitter account is suspended. It is not clear why, but I know people try to get others who have this happen onto Hive.
Over on @coingecko $HIVE and $STEEM are fighting it out. I monitor the prices in Bitcoin as I find it less stressful, but both have dropped relatively. $HIVE was over 1000 Satoshis, with $STEEM about 30% higher. They have been swapping places today, but $STEEM maintained a higher market cap due to having more tokens.
I really want to see $HIVE rank much higher, but that is down to what the market decides. Getting this platform better known and used ought to help, which takes us back to reaching a receptive audience. I have told my Facebook friends about it and a few have accounts they are not currently using. I am not going to nag friends about it for fear of losing them.
I welcome suggestions on what I can do to help in the promotion of Hive.
Hive five!
