Introduction

I have been doing the #BritList to find UK Hivers for a few years now making use of @hivesql to query the blockchain. I have done a few other countries, but have been putting off doing the USA as it seemed such a big job. However, I decided to give it a go by running queries for each of the states looking for certain cities. It is no simple jobs as lots of place names are duplicated and people will use the state abbreviations that are hard to search for. Many people do not give a location on their profile, but I have included a few that I knew of.

I found a few hundred accounts that have been active recently. My script for this post considers people to be active if they did something on Hive in the last month, but lots of voting activity will be automated.

I know I will have missed out a lot of people, but this will give some idea of where people are. Some states currently show up with no users, but that may just be due to me not finding them.

If you want to be added then let me know and also tell me if I got anything wrong. I can remove people on request. I will put the data and the updated script on my Github for anyone to use. I think it is better for people with local knowledge to maintain these lists.

Other Countries

I have produced similar lists for the following countries. Active numbers are from the last time I ran them. These have used simpler queries than what I use for the UK, so they are likely to miss people. What it needs is for local communities to take up this work. The data and scripts are all on my Github for anyone to make use of. I can do other lists on demand.
