I just found an article on Make Tech Easier that covers various alternative social media platforms. They talk about Steemit rather than the Steem platform, but 
I do not think author Andrew Braun is active on Steem. I wonder if he created p an account to try it. We have had some journalists on board and need more.
This site has a good Alexa rank (4546),so there is a chance of lots of people seeing the article. I left a comment with my impressions of Steem. I do not think we should sugar-coat it. People need to come in with realistic expectations.
Steem desperately needs new users who will stick around and not just try to make a quick buck from junk. We still see a lot of that. I try to steer them to a better path. Be social, not greedy. The rewards will come if you build a following.
Do what you can to encourage new Steemians. I can create accounts with resource credits if anyone needs one. I will review who
