Teacher should respect the privacy of students

Students are the future of a nation and education is the backbone of the nation. They go to school and acquire academic qualifications from there which can help them to set a future career for students. Students spend most of their time in school in the daytime and all the actions there can be monitored by the school authorities are quite easy there but now we are living in digital world, and students are quite open minded to share their thoughts in social media. If the school tries to monitor the social media of students, will it be a great idea?

Privacy is very important and it’s also same for the students. I think doesn’t matter what it costs, students will try to protect their privacy in such a case. If school authorities try to monitor the social media of students to understand what’s going on in the mind of their students, it may seem good thing, but what a school can offer aside from restriction. If school authorities can monitor social accounts of students, do you think any students will share thoughts in social media. If it was the case, they could share it in the school also. But the fact is the teachers are not so friendly to understand. So, it’s ridiculous to say that school authorities will monitor just for what’s going on in the mind of students.

Secondly, I think that it’s not so easy to monitor the students on social media. When it comes to technology, there is no way teachers can be more advanced compared to the students because the younger people have better grief in tech related things compared to the teachers. So, it’s kind of unrealistic to say teachers can monitor the students properly. Students will find a way to avoid the monitoring system or find a loophole in the system. I think it won’t be too difficult for students.

Again, if the school authorities try to monitor students in social media, it’s nearly impossible unless students keep things in public. If they keep posting in private mode, the school can’t monitor it. Even now social media has the system not to share things with specific people or specific category of people. So, it’s nearly impossible for the school authorities to monitor. Even if it’s possible, the students can create multiple accounts and share things using fake names and so it will be hard to detect as well as for monitoring.

Let’ t talk if it’s a good thing? I am a teacher now but if still I were a student, I would prefer to say teachers should maintain the boundaries otherwise they may lose respect in front of people in social media. If any teacher dares to peek at my privacy in social media, I will make sure the teacher will get bullied in the social media. There are countless ways to make it happen on social media and the teacher won’t be able to understand who actually do it. Peeking in others’ privacy is not an act a teacher should do. If they do so, they should pay the price for it. There is not way it can be good idea.
