The first of each months means a couple of things for me on Hive. One is Hive Power Up Day where we try to get lots more $HIVE staked. That is good for us who do it as we get more say in what happens, but it also means there is less available to buy. It just may not be a big enough difference to really affect the price, but it shows the commitment of the community.
People like milestones too. There are the official ones such as Minnow, Dolphin etc, but round numbers are nice too. I have been creeping up on 100k for a while and should get there in the next couple of months. I added another 122 today. Most of that came from my $HBD savings. I know that earns a good rate, but my HP matters to me.
The current level threshold are:
- Minnow 563.32
- Dolphin 5633.19
- Orca 56331.85
- Whale 563318.46
The other thing today is New Card Day on @risingstargame. I am only high in the rankings due to having lots of unique cards, so I want the new ones. I bought a load of packs today. I got a couple of Epics, but no Legendaries. Some people buy thousands of packs, but you have to prioritise what you want to do. I wanted funds for powering up.
There are some cards you cannot get from packs.
For the Fan Club cards you need to do a one hour mission 25 times with each costing some $STARPRO. There are just a few people doing all these. I should get the latest one tomorrow.
A recent addition are the blended Pro cards. You need to have a load of common cards of the right type plus a Fix It card that can be bought for $STARPRO. This feature has driven up the price of those common cards, but nobody knows which one is needed next.
These features are providing reasons to get $STARPRO and the price has risen a fair bit. I am buying some when I can. Meanwhile, $STARBITS are pretty cheap really. I can earn a lot of those each day by playing the game and that pays for the extras.
This is the only game I am actively playing for now as I need to use my time for other things, not all of them related to Hive.
I always say that the fun aspect of Hive is really important. Most people are not making life-changing money, but social media is a form of entertainment that billions are using whilst not getting paid. We are the pioneers of this sphere and when the world realises what is possible it will be massive. We need to keep spreading the word about it. Do not just sell it as a way to earn, but emphasise all the different ways it can be used and the lack of corporate control. Hive is not perfect, but it offers an alternative.
Hive five!
