Friday rolls around again and it is a public holiday in the UK. Our May holiday would normally have been on Monday, but it was moved to coincide with VE day. I expect a lot of people around the world are staying at home anyway due to the pandemic lockdown. I hope you have all you need and are doing okay.
I have been monitoring various statistics and it is good to see the two main Hive sites growing well according to Hypestat. They also rank third and fourth on Stateofthedapps, well ahead of Steemit. The latter still gets more visitors due to being more widely linked to, but we can work on raising the visibility of Hive.
I created another Hive account for a friend of 
Hive will not be a success without the community taking the initiative. Maybe some of the projects will invest in some advertising, but we can use our other social media to talk it up. I can only reach hundreds at best, but others have many thousands of followers elsewhere. Mind you it is more about quality rather than quantity. We need to attract people who have large followings themselves to give it a try. I see Pewdiepie has given up on Dlive after being their big star. He has gone back to Youtube as they probably offered him a better deal. He wants an audience and for now the alternative platforms lack that. Perhaps we should aim for more niche interests. A band or vlogger with a few thousand followers could get established on Hive and word may spread. We need that other kind of viral spread.
We have to face up to the issues that exist on Hive. A few big accounts are looking out for themselves and their friends. We cannot just ignore such things as Hive needs to be better than Steem, which is going downhill fast. 
I can appreciate that people want to optimise their curation rewards, but just voting for the same people means rewards do not get to others who are creating content with value.
I will give some mention to a few accounts who I think deserve a larger following:
@atheistrepublic discuss stories around religion and how it is abused. They have 17.5k Youtube subscribers, but only 232 Hive followers. They benefit from some nice delegation, but more engagement on their posts would be appreciated (and you may get a nice vote).
@sidekickmatt is a fine comic artist with just 377 Hive followers.
@arseniclullaby is another comic artist with strong opinions on many topics. He has often written about how the Steem and Hive communities do not promote topics with a much wider appeal than crypto. He will welcome your comments.So what are you doing for Hive? Are you talking about it with your friends and followers? What reasons do they express for not joining? If you need an account for someone then let me know.
