The #AlternativeWeekend challenge was started by @slobberchops as a place to feature music outside the mainstream. Just write a post with some songs you think fit this label. Most people do three songs, but the rules are fairly loose.

Neal Morse - Momentum

I got this as part of a free compilation. It's an up-tempo prog song with lots of great musicianship on show. Mr Morse is pretty prolific and works with several bands. He also does some Christian rock.

Flying Colors - Kayla

This is one of Neal's bands with other top rockers such as Mike Portnoy and Steve Morse. This is pretty commercial stuff really, but I like it.

Sons of Apollo - Coming Home

Another 'super-group' with the omnipresent Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan, Bumblefoot, Derek Sherinian and Jeff Scott Soto. I hadn't heard this, but it was on the suggested list for the Flying Colors video. Double neck bass and guitar with a fretless neck!

Some of these people never seem to stop working. They have to pay the bills, but I expect they enjoy it too.

Rock on!
