Today I return after a while with another fanart inspired by a Splinterlands character, one that is very well known and that I have intervened several times with different visions: Fungus Flinger, an explosive and very toxic fungus. So, as I mentioned in the result I share in the thumbnail of this blog, today we'll give it a psychedelic touch with a lot of pink. I'll be using both Ibis Paint and Photoshop for my drawing, and I'll share in detail each step of its design and coloring.
Hola amigos, comunidad de Alien Art y todo aquel que disfrute de una forma u otra del universo de Splinterlands, espero que todos estén teniendo un lindo día. Hoy regreso después de un tiempo con otro fanart inspirado en un personaje de Splinterlands, con uno muy conocido y al que he intervenido varias veces con distintas visiones; se trata de Fungus Flinger, un hongo explosivo y muy tóxico, así que, como adelantaba en el resultado que comparto en la miniatura de este blog, hoy le daremos un toque psicodélico y con mucho rosa. Estaré usando tanto Ibis Paint como Photoshop para mi dibujo y les compartiré en detalle cada paso de su diseño y su coloreado.
Let's start with the end, sharing with you how the final result turned out. What at first was not pink, I ended up opting for this combination with gradients because I think it gave more of that out-of-this-world and psychedelic touch I was looking for, instead of using the original combination of yellows and oranges.
Comencemos por el final, compartiéndoles cómo quedó el resultado final. Lo que en un principio no fue rosa terminé optando por esta combinación con degradados porque creo que daba más ese toque fuera de este mundo y psicodélico que buscaba, en lugar de utilizar la combinación original de amarillos y naranjas.

This was my final sketch. Without a doubt, it's a very easy character to draw. Starting with a circle as a base, I added the eyes and mouth; extending like vines, I added the different mushrooms that make up the head, and I surrounded everything with clouds of toxic smoke.
Este fue mi boceto final. Sin dudas, es un personaje muy fácil de dibujar. Partiendo con un círculo como base, agregué los ojos y la boca; extendiéndose como enredaderas, agregué los distintos hongos que componen la cabeza y todo lo rodeé con nubes de humo tóxico.
With my sketch ready, I simply continued by adding some details and polishing others to move on to a fine inking with little variation in line thickness.
Con mi boceto listo, continué simplemente agregando algunos detalles y puliendo otros para pasar a un entintado fino y con poca variación en los grosores de la línea.
This is how the entire line work looked once finished, increasing the value in some areas to achieve depth and volume. Finally, removing the sketch layer.
Así se vio todo el trabajo de líneas finalizado, aumentando el valor en algunas zonas para lograr profundidades y volúmenes. Por último, eliminando la capa de boceto.
I used this yellow color, which is quite neutral, as the base of my drawing to help me easily color the different areas of the image, since that way I differentiate it from the white background.
Utilicé este color de amarillo, que es bastante neutro, como base de mi dibujo para que me ayude a colorear fácilmente las distintas zonas de la imagen, ya que así lo diferencio del blanco de fondo.
The next step was to divide the drawing into two parts: one for the character itself and another for the smoke effects.
El siguiente paso fue dividir el dibujo en dos partes: una para el personaje como tal y otra para los efectos de humo.
This was the first version of the final coloring, but it wasn't managing to convey that psychedelic effect I wanted so much, so I began making small adjustments and tests.
Esta fue la primera versión del coloreado final, pero no lograba transmitir ese efecto psicodélico que tanto quería, así que comencé a hacer pequeños ajustes y pruebas.
I tried using gradients, and although I wasn't convinced by the colors, I already knew that I did want this effect at the end of the drawing.
Probé con el uso de degradados y, aunque los colores no me convencían, ya sabía que sí quería este efecto en el final del dibujo.
So I simply created a gradient in Photoshop using yellow and pink and overlaid it on the previous coloring. Playing with the different blending modes and adding some adjustment layers, I obtained this result, which I then touched up with white to increase the lights.
Así que simplemente creé en Photoshop un degradado usando amarillo y rosa y lo superpuse al coloreado anterior. Jugando con los distintos modos de fusión y agregando algunas capas de ajuste, obtuve este resultado, al que intervine con blanco para aumentar las luces.
Without a doubt, the color I liked most for the background was this strong pink. I added different light and blur effects to this background and obtained a very good result.
Sin dudas, el color que más me gustó para el fondo fue este rosa fuerte. A este fondo le agregué distintos efectos de luces y desenfoques y obtuve un muy buen resultado.
Now, returning to the final result, my drawing is complete. I really enjoyed redrawing this Splinterlands character, and I think it's my favorite drawing of this session.
