Enthusiasm is one of those emotions that I perceive in a diffuse way. For me, it is probably easier to live it, feel it and express it, than to talk about it. However, I think it is an excellent exercise on an emotional level to ask ourselves: What makes me feel enthusiastic in life? What makes me feel like an enthusiastic person?
When I think of enthusiasm, I inevitably think of "passion ". An overwhelming force that grows inside us when through any of our 5 senses (or all of them), we are in contact with what we love. From small and simple things that make our day, like going for a pizza or watching a movie we've been wanting to see for a long time. Or bigger and more transcendental things, like completing a personal project, writing a thesis, buying a house, falling in love.
Enthusiasm seems to me to be a pure, honest and, in a sense, innocent emotional expression. It is the childlike twinkle in the eye that is preserved even in adulthood when we think, talk and do things that make us happy. Enthusiasm is conveyed in the emotion of our bodily expressions, gestures, and in the way we speak. In a sense, when we are excited we are a little "drunk" on adrenaline and dopamine. That is why it is so easy to spend hours on what we are passionate about, and even lose sleep.
When we do something that excites us, time loses all logical sense.
Enthusiasm recharges us with energy to continue doing what we love, to project ourselves into the future, and even to remember the past with joy.
At the same time, it can lead us to make wrong decisions, to think unclearly or to make plans that don't sound so great in a moment of non-enthusiasm. Has it happened to you? It happens to me frequently. In my case, introverted Sophia kind of hates enthusiastic Sophia, because on a casual outing with friends I make new plans for the future, plan the day and even commit to things, and when the time really comes all I want to do is stay home reading and listening to music 馃槃.
Enthusiasm has made big, difficult or complicated events more bearable. When I remember those moments I don't think so much about how hard it was but about all the positive energy I had at the time to achieve that thing I wanted with a good attitude despite the difficulties. I remember the first semester of my college career I didn't have internet at home and I had to make some sacrifices like spending hours in the library writing down information by hand, or carrying heavy books in my bag on public transportation for an hour. And what do I remember from that time? My happiness of thinking that I could borrow books from a big library, my happiness of feeling connected body and soul with my goal of being a psychologist even though it meant some sacrifices....
Happiness... that's what we are left with when we live with enthusiasm.
People who act with enthusiasm are noticeable, and those who don't, too. The latter seem to do everything a little forced, enjoy very few things and do not find the sense of what they do. They look a bit gray, dull. I don't really blame them, I think there are life events so strong that they can take away one's enthusiasm, at least for a certain period of time. And in the long run, it doesn't necessarily imply a mental or emotional disorder. At the end of the day, like all emotions, they are in a way something natural and unconscious, and at the same time, a personal choice that we nurture through our thoughts and actions. In my personal experience, enthusiasm makes life look more beautiful, makes me want to live it more.

驴Y qu茅 recuerdo de esa 茅poca?
