Today our hearts are broken. Our sweet, precious nephew, newest little family member left this world today. Today our hearts are broken in every way words can't express.
While he didn't live long enough to ever sit in our laps, listen to one of our stories, watch a movie, play on the floor, hear our voice, or even get to watch us grow - that little spirit touched each one of us in ways we cannot ever forget. We dreamed of this boy, looked forward to the future, and just wanted to hold him a little longer - and the pain of losing such a tiny little spirit is too much for us to bear.
God sometimes gives us beautiful gifts that last only a moment. Our little boy may not have grown into our arms, sat in a swing, played with us, or been able to walk beside us, but we love him - and he has already left a forever mark on us.
My heart breaks for my brother and sister-in-law - a mother and father who have lost their baby. I have no words to try to comfort what only a mother and father can experience. Please know how very much you are loved - how very much your sweet boy was loved - and I pray the pain lessens a little each day for you.
To our sweet angel - we loved you from the moment we heard you - from the moment your first heartbeat beat out my sister's insecurities - and while we were blessed to only hold you a few short moments, we will never be able to forget you. You are loved and loved and loved.
Today we grieve the impossible future we will never see, the moments we will never be able to share, the numerous days I'll want to call your name, and the hours I'll wish you could have been right here with us. But we will also celebrate the gift that you were in our lives and the gift of you. Rest peacefully in Jesus's arms, my sweet little baby. I love you.
Until I see your precious face again - I will never forget you - you came into our lives for a little while, and you loved us for a lifetime.
