Happiness is the most important thing for all of us, and almost everyone wants to be happy in life. That's why we are chasing happiness in different ways because the meaning of happiness is different from person to person. Some people think that happiness is something that is difficult to achieve and for some people, they think it exists within us and we just need to figure it out.
Again, some people think that happiness lies in materialistic things and that's why they chase the money because most of the materialistic things can be achieved by having money and that's why people have desperately running after the money. What is actually the happiness? In my opinion, whatever a person thinks about happiness is real happiness. Didn't get it? In that case, let me explain a little bit.
I think that being satisfied with what we have or with our achievement or whatever we're going to achieve is called happiness. Satisfaction is something that is different from person to person. Let me draw an example of smartphones as it's a very common thing and we use it in our daily life. Some people get satisfied when they buy an iPhone and some people can get satisfied with just having a smartphone with a decent feature even if it's not so expensive as iPhone. It indicates the mindset of a person. When we are discussing smartphones, then for some people being able to go to sleep with a filled stomach is called happiness. Let me draw another example of it.
This time, the example is half glass of water. And groups of thirsty people are allowed to get a glass filled with half glass of drinkable water after a long journey. Some of those people can be happy because of half glass of water. At the same time, some people can be unhappy for not getting a full rest of water. What's the difference actually here? Some people are trying to make them satisfied with what's available. What's a bilevel? And the remaining one expecting too much and too much expectation don't allow them to be satisfied. So I think that this example is clear enough to make it understand that happiness is mostly related to mindset even if there are other requirements.
So, for some people who try to find happiness in mentalistic things, then it's happiness for them and again some people try to find happiness with what's available, it's also the happiness. It's just a difference between their point of view, as well as their mindset. For both cases, the happiness is genuine in my opinion. But I believe that during childhood most of us were genuinely happy, because at that time our thoughts were very simple and maybe a single paper with good drawing was enough to make us happy. Maybe chocolate, that cost one cent, was also enough to make us happy. With our blood we become more materialistic and our expectations increase and that's why we find it hard to be happy.
After growing up, happiness is a choice and if anyone wants to find happiness, they must have a positive mindset first. Too much expectations make it difficult for us to be happy and that’s why we should try to keep our expectations in reasonable ranges where we can reach and, in that way, we can be satisfied with when we can achieve those things or targets or goals. In a word we should learn to make ourselves satisfied with what is achievable.
