The days of summer are nice and bright especially after a rain. The lake fills up and gets extra reflective.
I tried my best to get a clear shot of this monarch but it was quite busy and ended up a blur.
I focused more on some plump bees. Numerous honey bees and bumble bees were obsessed with these purple flowers.
These poor cacti are a bit too waterlogged. I'm surprised they can survive so much summer rain.
Back to the bees. I'm obviously walking in a nicely kept garden that features all kinds of flowers and other plants.
The roses were quite popular for the bumblebees.
Sadly I got no clear shots of their faces.
In the wild area of the garden milkweed is hatching out the milkweed bug nymphs.
At nymph stage they are super bright and shiny. Nothing eats these guys as they get poisons out of the milkweed plant.
As usual I'm always on the lookout for fungi. The summer rains gave these splitgills a chance to grow at bit more. They dry up and only grow again when it rains again. This makes it easy to store them for cooking, just soak them in water then cook them.
Here is a reddening lepiota. The caps start to redden from the sun and if you cut one open it will stain red. These are edible but I've never tried one as they always tend to grow out of fertilized mulch full of chemicals.
