Introduction

I'm here to share my challenge blog post for the Share Your Battle Challenge. The theme featured this week is Magi Necrosi. I will explain when I feel it's best to use this card as well as share a battle and my thoughts.

When To Use Magi Necrosi

I feel Magi Necrosi is a bit situational. I find it to be very good in bronze. It's good in bronze because many of the bots like to spam Obsidian or Kelya with healer so the snipe ability will let you kill those pesky back line cards. It's a bit better in diamond and higher because it has stun. I feel without the stun sometimes it's just not that good in higher leagues with how prevalent taunt is in the meta. Maybe if you don't think they will play a taunt monster, you can try to use this card. This card can also be good in wands out or back to basics ruleset depending on what elements are available but besides these there's not many high winrate scenarios using this card in the higher leagues from my experience.

The Battle

I played this battle on my scholar account, bltzr-wizard-727. The battle link can be found here. This battle is in gold modern league. The ruleset for this battle was back to basics. It was a 46 mana cap battle with fire and water elements banned. Usually in this ruleset Immortalis would be a good choice but since this scholar account doesn't have one I chose to - magic with death. Another good choice in this ruleset would be to play Grandmaster Rathe which is what my opponent a fellow Balthazar ended up playing.

If you are wondering why I always share battles with my scholar accounts, this is because it's the only account that I play everyday so it's easier to do the challenge with this account. I usually rent cards out on my main account and then rent to play brawls as I don't have time to play everyday.

Discussing My Lineup

First Position, Cursed Windeku - I chose Cursed Windeku in the first spot as a big tank with decent damage and speed. In this ruleset, you want a high health tank for lowest mana as possible and if better maybe have some armor. In this situation though, death still doesn't have a high health tank for low mana with armor so I had to make do with Cursed Windeku.

Second Position, Usut - I chose Usut for the this spot as a secondary tank with it's 10 health as well as 4 armor. It makes it a good off tank as well as it's magic so it's able to do damage from this spot as well. I was also lucky to pull a gold foil legendary version of this card as it was already level 2 so I didn't get any reward penalties for using this card in gold league!

*Third Position, Djinn Muirat - I chose Djinn Muirat to be the third tank. If the pattern isn't obvious, I'm playing magic in the back so I'm using monsters with higher health as the next in line to be tank after the monster infront dies.

Fourth Position, Insidious Warlock - I chose Insidious Warlock to be in the fourth spot as the next in line to be tank as well as magic for it's damage.

Fifth Position, Magi Of Chaos - The main purpose for Magi of Chaos was to do damage. You may have noticed that Magi Of Chaos has more health than Insidious Warlock so you might wonder why I put it behind. Well this is quite simple because Magi Of Chaos has one more damage than Insidious Warlock so I placed it behind. On top of that, a one health difference to be infront isn't too big of a deal. It's better to have the card with bigger dps behind.

Final Position, Magi Necrosi - The purpose of Magi Necrosi was to be the finisher. This is the featured card and you can see that it has high speed as well as high dps. It was the best to place in the last position to be the finisher.

Did My Strategy Work? & Would I try differently next time?

Yes, my strategy worked. The - magic from Thaddius really carried the battle. Usually in back to basics everybody will make a magic team so it's a no brainer to have some sort of summoner to buff magic or reduce magic so you will see summoners like Thaddius, Obsidian, Immortalis and Grandmaster Rathe etc. Although I was victorious, I would have preferred to play with Immortalis and that's what I would try differently next time provided the scholarship will delegate this card to the account.

Do I Like Magi Necrosi? Why Or Why Not?

To answer this, I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't hate Magi Necrosi but I don't like it either. I do love using it in bronze though as that's where I find it to be the most useful. I feel this way because I don't think it's that great of a card but it's also not a horrible card. This card I feel is quite balanced so it's defnitely a card that some people will love in the right situations and some people just don't care about as it's not an overly utilized card compared to cards like Dr Blight, Pelacor Bandit, Uraeus which is seen a lot in games at gold league and higher.
