Beer Tasting: Labona IPA and Petrus Dubbel

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

I'm back on the island of Pag, and it's #beersaturday, 423. On this hot and sunny afternoon, I'm hiding in the shade, occasionally cooling off in the warm sea, and two beers are waiting for me in the fridge!
What more could I want? Three beers, hahah :)

Two bottles, one Croatian and one Belgian. Both have the same alcohol content. Which one should I start with? I'll start with the bitter one and finish with the sweet one :)

Labona IPA

Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 6.5%, IBU 50. India Pale Ale.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Strong IPA with a golden amber color and a white stable foam. This beer is a flavor explosion, with a big body and intense bitterness. Tropical fruit aromas, dominated by grapefruit, pine, nutmeg, and floral notes, match beautifully with extremely spicy dishes, fried foods, seafood, burgers, and various chocolate desserts.

The beer is cloudy and golden in color, with a lot of foam that disappears quickly. It smells like tropical fruit. It goes down smoothly, with a dominant bitterness in the mouth, followed by an intense tropical aroma, reminiscent of grapefruit or passion fruit. However, it was too much, at least for my taste.
The bitterness and the tropical aroma, which I find unpleasant, linger in the aftertaste for some time.

The beer is drinkable and fresh, but I don't like it.
The bitterness was delicate, but I didn't like the strong tropical flavor that dominated it. Who knows, someone else may like it.
It has good reviews on Untappd.com, 3.46, but it didn't suit me. Too extreme for me.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Petrus Dubbel will delight your tastebuds with subtle aromas of coffee, caramel, and chocolate. A full-bodied, rich and heavenly flavour. Characterful and full-bodied thanks to the use of six speciality malts that complement each other perfectly.

Last week I tasted Petrus Blond and it was OK. But this is something different. We'll see.

The beer is dark brown, with little foam. It has no particular aroma. It goes down smoothly, and the first taste is the sweetness of malt, with a hint of caramel and chocolate. There is a subtle bitterness of coffee in the background, just as the master brewers described.
The aftertaste slowly fades away.

Delicious and drinkable beer!
Sweetness and malt dominate, there is a slight bitterness, but everything is very well balanced. I would have another one right away, but this is all I have. I got it at Lidl, at home, there were three Petrus. I still have Trippel left. It will be next week.
