It is #BeerSaturday time of week again like it has been for just over 9 years! Has anyone heard from our good friend detlev@detlev? Whether worry is warranted or not, a beer will help to pass the time til we drink to his return on #beersaturday.

This week, I am celebrating the change of seasons by declaring it beer season!

The Pint of the week is usually a social beer enjoyed out on the town, one of the best ways to share a pint. I enjoyed this one last night while waiting for take-out we ordered as a special token of our wedding anniversary.

I am definitely all in on IPAs but can really appreciate a classic. King Fisher will be familiar to anyone who has travelled to India, or has enjoyed an authentic pint with their Indian feast. Shubhkaamnaayein!

Camping Beers!!

Followers might recall my recent camping trip where I ignored the official arrival of spring and defiantly clung to summer with a weekend outdoor adventure. A large part of that 10k adventure was a wonderful hike along the trails of Point Farms Provincial Park. An important part of the fuelling of that walk was on of my all time favourite beers, Karma Citra IPA Such a bold and strong (7% ABV!) beer that has stood the test of time and I love it as much today as I did way back when. It didn't last long on the hike but luckily I had more back at the camp site!

Lone Pine!

Classic favourites must have been the theme of my shopping for the trip as I also brough along another all time fave. I haven't visited Sawdust City Brewing in years and it has been a while since I have enjoyed one of their beers. Mainly because there are so many new and amazing IPAs to discover as this region has a richness in selection and variety.

How perfect is it to enjoy an all time fave like [Lone Pine West Coast IPA] (https://sawdustcitybeer.com/products/lone-pine-west-coast-ipa) among the pines surrounding the camp fire? Even better, this region is known as the west coast of Ontario as we are perched right on the coast of Lake Huron staring out in the direction of our neighbours in Michigan. It was all I remembered and inspired me to pick it up a little more often when I am purchasing retail beer.

Brewing Season

IMG_0095.jpg

If every season is Beer Season, then it must always be Brewing Season for us. The cool but sunny weather is PERFECT for a session in the home garage brewery with the moderate temperatures and bonus sunny days. Summer and vacation season is a little hectic and we have not spent as much time brewing as we usually do but hopefully a slower fall will enable us to get out there more often.

For my more recent followers, we brew many styles of our own beer right from full grains. These grains you see are a combination of IPA malt, Golden promise with the addition of wheat and oats for a bit of haze and a smoother mouth feel. They are for our standard Hazy New England IPA and this batch was hopped with Galazy, Citra, Amarillo and as substitution of Nelson Sauvin hops. The beer turned out to be a little heavy at 7% abv (when we aim for 6.3%) and I have to be a little more careful as it is just sweet and delicious!

#BEERSaturday!

When you pour this much foam, damn right I might need more than one. Especially if they are delivered by these smiles!

Now it is time for you to join me, the illusive detlev@detlev, and these other beerologists as there is always room for more beer bloggers at the Beer Saturday gathering. Hopefully, our friend detlev@detlev will return safely to once again carry the #beersaturday flag for us. Until then, we will continue to raise a toast for him and the other beerologists around the globe.

Which beers are you enjoying this Beer Season?
