With no stress but full of happiness
Somesh was sleeping like a king, when I went to call him for lunch, and look at the ambience - in a hot summer, sleeping on the footpath of the road in front of our apartment society, on a simple cloth - no fan, no ac. Vehicles going on that road were not able to disturb his sleep, even though they hunk loudly because of people getting out of our gate.
I was truly jealous - how is it even possible ? How can someone sleep like this ? With all the comfort at home, we are still not able to get a nice sleep !! At this temperature outside, I can barely even stand for more than 15 minutes. Went pretty closer to decide if I should call him or not and looking at his state, I decided to not wake him up and allow him to sleep for some more time.
I had to buy some stuffs from the market and upon returning, I waked him as it was getting delayed for lunch. He brought this truck for the consignment for a friend leaving the society, and as things were getting packed, he used the time to sleep.
After getting a little familiar with his background I dared to ask him : How can you sleep so easily at such a place ? Sir, Once we pick these consignments, we try to deliver it fast in order to get the next one, and barely get time to sleep. By the time I will reach the destination, I will have few hours to unpack and then pick up another consignment - it's very difficult to meet the financial burden, so I leverage the break time to sleep and then drive rest of the time.
Don't you go and spend some time with your family ? Yes, I do , once in few months, taking a break of 3-4 days, but since I am the lone bread earner, I have the responsibility to take care of not only my family but also my parents. I am giving good education to my kids so that they don't have to do this, hope I can live a better life, once they settle, which is at least another decade.
A smile coming out of his face ,when talking about his accomplishments - not big for many, but means a lot for him. He is living a fulfilled life living to his dreams - a simple life, no stress, no disease, no high expectations......while trying to make ends meet.
So what's our problem ? I was thinking while coming back.
