Curiosity killed the cat

At that age I had a certain fascination for ferns and mushrooms, the former attracted my attention with the staggered shape of their evergreen leaves and how they searched for light. On the other hand, the fascination of mushrooms came from their great variety and all the colors and shapes.

Curator's comment :

This is a lovely CNF piece about curiosity killing the cat. As a child almadepoeta picked a mushroom in the forest and held it in his hand for his father, as a surprise. He was following a rule: Don't eat anything in the forest. The rule didn't say don't touch anything. In the car home he develops a terrible rash and his father rushes him to the hospital.

Like those monsters with a thousand eyes, my grandmother would make sure that every action we did was under her supervision:

"Don't ride there because you'll fall off",_ my grandmother would order, anticipating our actions and the consequences of them.

Curator's comment :

The tone of the story is warm. The author manages to create the atmosphere of her childhood home. Great writing.

Trying to make ends meet

Meaning: trying to earn a living, often in a clever way, but in challenging circumstances.
