Life is full of lots of decisions. Everyday you live, you will be faced with choices that can influence your future, or influence your relationship, or even determine the direction of your life. There are some decisions that might not be too significant, but there are other decisions that can change the course of your life forever. I have seen people's life change in ways they did not expect because of just one decision. This is why you need to think, consider, and analyse properly before you take decisions. Do not take them in a haste.

One of the dangers of taking hasty decision is that it can lead to costly mistakes. You will be surprised how many people have lost opportunities, broken friendships, wasted money, and even spoilt their careers simply because they acted too quickly and impulsive. There are even sometimes that people get too excited about an opportunity that they do not take out time to analyse the potential risks. At other times, out of anger, fear, peer pressure, or even because of desperation, people can take decisions that they may regret later.
A couple of months back, one of my very close friends shared what looked like a good investment and business opportunity with me. The investment promised a very high return in a very short time. As a matter of fact, within days, you would have gotten almost your capital back. A lot of my friends did not think about the potential risks, and they invested. I had to take out time to research more about the business, and a lot of things did not sit well with me, so I passed. They said a lot of things to encourage me that risks are part of life. But I discovered that the business was more of a ponzi scheme. Yet they were still telling me that I can invest and "cash out" anytime. Sadly enough, my friends who invested did not get the opportunity to remove their profits before it crashed. Imagine if I had invested in a haste, I would have been affected. Making hasty decisions can lead one to costly mistakes.
There are times that patience can be what will save you. You have to understand that patience does not mean that you are a weak person, it means that you can control yourself, while you gather extensive information that will help you to make a better decision. When you are patient, you will give yourself enough time to examine and analyse your opinions, weigh your choices, seek advice, analyse possible risks, and know the long-term effects of the action you want to take. For example, before entering a relationship, or accepting a new job offer, or starting a business, or making a significant financial commitment, you need to ask yourself what you stand to gain, the risks involved, and what could go wrong.
Do not allow pressure to determine your decisions. Some people have taken wrong decisions and made wrong choices because of pressure, and because of the fear of being left behind. They see their friends getting married, getting new jobs, buying properties, starting up businesses, achieving professional successes, or even going for vacation, and they feel pressured into following after the same path. But what they fail to understand is that they are not competing with them, and they have different destinies. More so, someone's else opportunity might not be right for you. Someone's destination might be a beginning point for you. This is why you need to learn to take things at your own pace, and avoid making uninformed hasty decisions.

It is true that you need courage to succeed in life, but you should know that wisdom also requires caution to be mixed with the courage. While patience is necessary, you should not spend your whole life waiting for things to happen to you, or waiting for the perfect condition. There are times that waiting excessively will make you to miss valuable opportunities. You need to have a balance between carefulness and decision making, not sacrificing one for another. Always get the necessary information, evaluate and analyse the risks, seek wise counsel, and then take the steps when you are prepared. Take informed step, and make it count.
