A lot of people have allowed the fear of failure to stop them from trying, and from taking the necessary steps. You will be surprised how many people have dreams, ideas, plans, opportunities, and talents that could change their lives, but they never took the first step because they are scared of what would happen if they try. They may fear rejection, failure, disappointment, embarrassment, or criticism. But what they fail to understand is that the longer they wait for life to become perfect, the more life moves forward. The truth is that you will never know what you are able to achieve until you have given it a trial.

I remember when a friend of mine came to me with a very brilliant business idea that he had been thinking about for almost 1 year. I asked him why he has not implemented the idea yet. Then he replied that he is scared of losing money. I told him that he will not know what he can achieve in the business until he has taken a step to start. He was waiting for the perfect time and the perfect support, while also being scared to start. But after speaking with him, he started with what he hard. Adorably, at the moment, he business is doing well, and he has already recovered the capital he put into it and still has gains. If he had not started, he would not have known that he can succeed in the business.

What you should know is that most times, it is fear that keeps you in your comfort zone. It may feel safe at first, but staying too long in it can prevent you from growing and may stagnate you. What you have to understand is that for every meaningful achievement that you want to have, you will be required to step into unfamiliar terrains. If you want to grow, then you must have the courage to attempt to do what you have never done before. They may feel uncomfortable at the start, but the discomfort could be what will open a new chapter in your life.

It is worthy to note that even though you tried and did not get it right, you have not really failed. Of course, failure is not the direct opposite of success as some people may think. But it can actually be a tool of learning, to improve, and to be better prepared for taking the next step. More so, you would have gathered extra experience that you can apply to try again. At least you would have discovered what works and what does not work, and how to make it work better. You have to understand that failing as a result of trying to move forward is far better than being stagnated in just one place because you are afraid to make any move. What matters is that you are willing to learn from the errors and mistakes, and that you will try again.

I have come to realise that opportunities can come in ways and places you may not expect. But sometimes, you may need to take actions, to make decisions, or take risks. The kind of opportunities that you need will not meet you in a place of inaction. However, you should know that this does not mean that you should take reckless and uniformed decisions. Rather, study the situation, gather more information and knowledge, prepare yourself, assess the risks very well, and then take the actions promptly.

There are times that you will discover your true abilities in the process of trying. When you have taken up actions, you will realise your strengths. You do not have to figure out everything before you step out in courage, you only need to believe in your potentials. The breakthrough that you desire, and the person that you want to become might just be waiting for you at the other side of the decision. But until you make the decision, you may not meet them. So take a step. You do not have to take a giant stride at first. You do not need to start big, but the most important thing is that you start. In the process of trying, you will learn, grow, and improve as time goes on.
