Life offers everyone the opportunity to become great or achievable greatness, but the challenge is that not everyone is willing to pay the required price. You will be surprised to know that a lot of people have settled for less than they are capable of achieving because of lack of courage to take risks, fear, being comfortable with mediocrity, or simply because of their unwillingness to step outside their comfort zone. But what you should know is that if you want to get extraordinary results then you have to have extraordinary commitment to excellence. That is, aim high and do not settle for just anything. It is true that you may not achieve it overnight, but it will set you towards the right path.

There are areas that you have to aim high and do not settle for what is below par. The first one is in your personal development and growth. One of the greatest investments you would ever make is the one you make on yourself. If you remain in the same level of knowledge or with the same skill for long without improving, then you are not developing yourself. You can develop yourself by reading books, learning new skills, learn from the people who have achieved what you are aspiring for, then remain open to new ideas. The more you work to develop yourself, the better you will be equipped to recognise opportunities and take advantage of them. Your journey to excellence will definitely begin with you being committed to personal development.
In addition to personal development, you should also aim high when it comes to your work. If you are a handyman, a trader, a contractor, a business person, or even a service provider, and someone gives you a task or a business to do, always put a touch of excellence to it. Endeavour to do it exceptionally well, and impress them with it. Do not just do it in an anyhow manner, but do it with the hopes that you want to make statement with it. In everything you do, let your work speak for you. Even if you are a student, you can still be a student with a difference. I have come to understand that the people who constantly deliver outstanding results will be distinguished. When you are known for excellence, you will increase your chances of being trusted, and then you will attract more opportunities.
In your dreams also, you should not settle for less, always aim high. Do not allow fear to make you to shrink or reduce your dreams. Set big dreams that will motivate and challenge you to put in your best. If your dreams do not prompt you to be better, to learn, to grow, or to stretch yourself beyond where you are, then you may not be dreaming big. However, you also need to know that even the big dreams will definitely require practical approach. You can break the dreams into segments, so it will be easy and simpler to take them one bit per time. A lot of the great achievements you see today began with the courage to do what others thought was impossible.

In your relationship also, do not settle for the less. The people you allow into your life can influence a lot of things about you, including your actions, thought pattern, habits, and even your aspirations. If you stay with a mediocre, you will see yourself thinking mediocrity. But when you stay with people who are geared towards excellence, they will motivate you to do the same, they will inspire you, and encourage you to pursue after your purpose. Avoid being in relationship with people who often undermine your confidence or discourage you from becoming better than you were. Rather be with the people who encourage you to improve yourself. In the same way, also be the person who will also encourage others to grow.
In everything you do, try to aim high and work hard. It is worthy to note that your current position is not your final destination. With continuous improvement, the right mentality, constant efforts, and continuous commitment, you can achieve more than you ever thought you could. Do not live your life wondering what you could have achieved, when you can simply take an action today that can draw you towards greatness.
