Cook with Us - March, Week 1 - Broccoli and garlic bread lasagna
Hi
The story of this dish is about father's favorite vegetable and kids...
I use broccoli all the time, it's one of my favorite vegetables, and my kids -of course- hated it. So, I tried different ways to make them eat more vegetables, and the most effective way was to hide them into the efood kids like the most.
I started preparing lasagna and I mixed the meat with broccoli -equal shares- and kids never noticed, actually, they like it more because it' gets some sweet flavor from the broccoli.
This time I prepared it with garlic bread instead of pasta, and it gets some softer texture.
I'll show you the steps, but I don't measure when I cook.
First of all, we chop the broccoli and mix it with the meat (and here we too the proof photo). I usually add salt, chives and homemade tomato sauce.
While it cooks, it's time to make some garlic bread. So, I melt some butter (a cup) with smashed garlic, spread it on thin slices of bread and I put it on the convection oven to toast.
And then, it's time to put all together in layers of bread, meat-broccoli and bechamel sauce (white sauce). We put some cheese on top.
And finally, after 25 minutes at 200º celsius, it's ready to eat.
There is no picture of the dish served, because the kids coudn't wait to eat theri favorite meal
