As far as I am concerned, at home we are facing new challenges as parents and as a family in general, since our first child, Matías has started his way to high school and of course to adolescence, so big challenges are coming for him, for us as parents and even for his little sister, but I will tell you about that in another post!
For now we continue with the end of the vacations and my preparation for back to school. And I'm not going to tell you that I feel like the vacations flew by because we did so many things that I was already tired actually, so I was longing for back to school hahaha.
Maybe many people think I'm crazy, but the truth is that now is coming my real "vacation" because even though I know I will be very busy, at least I will have a few hours for myself in the morning while the kids go to school and so I can rest from my vacation!
It happens that we had so many outings that the truth is that for me that I don't go out much and I enjoy being at home it is really very tiring, but definitely we all needed that time together in different environments, so despite the hustle and bustle that the vacation implied I am very grateful for everything we were able to do and for the time shared with my family.

Espero que este año esté lleno de mucho aprendizaje y diversión para cada uno de sus chicos en sus diferentes etapas.
En lo que a mi respecta éste inicio de año escolar, en casa nos enfrentamos con nuevos retos como padres y como familia en general, ya que nuestro primer niño, Matías ha iniciado su camino en bachillerato y por supuesto a la adolescencia, así que se vienen grandes desafíos para él, para nosotros como padres e incluso para su hermanita, pero de eso ya les hablaré en otro post!
Por ahora seguimos con el fin de las vacaciones y mi preparación para el regreso a clases. Y no les voy a decir que siento que las vacaciones pasaron volando porque hicimos tantas cosas que ya estaba cansada en realidad, así que estaba añorando el regreso a clases jajaja.
Quizá muchos piensen que estoy loca, pero la verdad es que ahora es que se vienen mis verdaderas "vacaciones" porque aunque sé que estaré muy ocupada, por lo menos tendré para mí solita unas cuantas horas en la mañana mientras los niños van al colegio y así descanso de mis vacaciones!
Pasa que tuvimos tantas salidas que la verdad para mí que no soy de salir mucho y disfruto estar en casa es realmente muy desgastante, pero definitivamente todos estábamos necesitando ése tiempo juntos en ambientes diferentes, así que a pesar del ajetreo que implicaron las vacaciones estoy muy agradecida por todo lo que pudimos hacer y por el tiempo compartido con mi familia.

Seguramente en pocos días estaremos soñando con que lleguen rápido las vacaciones de Navidad, pero por ahora les cuento cómo nos organizamos con la vuelta a clases.

At home a week ago we started with the preparations for back to school so as not to be running around like crazy at the last minute, so we were shopping for school supplies and some other little things that the children would need, because thank God we bought the uniforms a little earlier this time, so we had something in advance.
Regarding school shopping I must say that not only my kids get excited, but mom is also counting the days to go get the supplies and most of the time I am the one who craves to buy things that are not on the list because they look "beautiful" hahaha my husband would say that I am worse than the kids!
This time as always, we shopped at Mundo Escolar, a very complete bookstore that we have on the Island, but this year due to economic reasons we bought the notebooks at a very well known department store where the notebooks had an excellent price, so I had the opportunity to enjoy a little more of that environment that I like so much.
By the way, I leave you with a tip that I usually use with my children to avoid unnecessary expenses, and that is to give them each the list that corresponds to them and their mission is to choose each product from the list and then cross it off. That's enough to keep everything under control and they don't want to take all the stationery with them hahaha.
En casa hace una semana iniciamos con los preparativos para el regreso al colegio para no estar a última hora corriendo como locos, por lo que estuvimos haciendo las compras de los útiles escolares y algunas otras cositas que los niños necesitarían, ya que gracias a Dios los uniformes los adquirimos con un poco más de anticipación esta vez, así que teníamos algo adelantado.
Con respecto a las compras escolares debo decir que no sólo mis hijos se emocionan, sino que mamá también cuenta los días para ir por los útiles y la mayoría del tiempo soy yo quien se antoja de comprar cosas que no están en la lista porque se ven "bellas" jajaja diría mi esposo que soy peor que los niños!
Esta vez como siempre, realizamos las compras en Mundo Escolar, una librería bastante completa con la que contamos en la Isla, pero este año por temas de economía compramos los cuadernos en una tienda por departamentos muy conocida donde los cuadernos tenían un precio excelente, así que tuve oportunidad de disfrutar un poco más de ése ambiente que tanto me gusta.
Por cierto, les dejo un Tip que yo suelo utilizar con mis hijos para evitar gastos innecesarios, y es entregarles a cada uno la lista que les corresponde y su misión es escoger cada producto de la lista para luego ir tachando. Ya con eso basta para que todo se mantenga bajo control y no quieran llevarse toda la papelería jajaja.

With the school supplies ready, our weekend was all about organization and preparation, so I did a deep cleaning in the children's room. I cleared out closets, drawers, shelves and discarded everything that should no longer be in their room, selected outgrown clothes to give to their cousins, changed sheets and left everything in order.
Another thing I did was to identify both of their notebooks and in Miranda's case, in addition to labeling, I made a different cover for each of her notebooks, besides preparing the uniforms and backpacks with everything they would need for their first day of school. And with that ready we moved on to the most important thing.
And one of the things that is part of the beginning of classes at home is an individual talk I have with each one of my children about how they should behave during the new period; how to behave at school, how to take care of their supplies, responsibility with their assignments and what to do before leaving home and when they return home.
And if you are wondering what you should do, here are some tips to help you with your routines.
Before leaving home; check their supplies and make sure nothing is left behind as well as their snack and when they return home; wash their hands, unpack the lunch box, leave the notebooks in my room for review and take a shower.

Ya con los útiles escolares listos nuestro fin de semana fue de organización y preparación, así que me dediqué a hacer una limpieza profunda en la habitación de los niños. Desocupé closets, gavetas, repisas y descarté todo lo que ya no debía estar en su habitación, seleccioné ropita que ya no les quedaba para regalar a sus primos, cambié sábanas y dejé todo en orden.
Otra cosa que hice fué identificar los cuadernos de ambos y en el caso de Miranda, adicional al etiquetado realicé una portada diferente para cada uno de sus cuadernos, además de preparar los uniformes y morrales con todo lo que necesitarían para su primer día de clases. Y con eso listo pasamos a lo más importante.
Y es que una de las cosas que en casa forma parte del inicio a clases es una charla individual que tengo con cada uno de mis niños sobre cómo deben conducirse durante el nuevo período; cómo comportarse en el colegio, el cuidado de sus útiles, responsabilidad con sus asignaciones y qué hacer antes de salir de casa y al regresar a ella.
Y si se preguntan qué es lo que deben hacer, aquí se los dejo por si les sirve para sus rutinas.
Antes de salir de casa; revisar sus útiles y asegurarse que nada se queda al igual que su merienda y al regresar; lavar las manos, desocupar la lonchera, dejar los cuadernos en mi habitación para su revisión y ducharse.
Otro de los aspectos importantes de la charla previa al primer día de clases es con respecto al comportamiento con sus compañeros de aula y sus docentes. Además de hablarles siempre de la importancia de darse a respetar y hacer escuchar su voz cuando sea necesario y por supuesto recordarles una vez más lo valiosos que son y que papá y mamá siempre estarán aquí para escuchar cualquier problema que se les pueda presentar.

This school year, as I said at the beginning, represents a new challenge for all of us since Matías is starting 7th grade, that is to say, he has entered high school along with adolescence, so he is going through many changes that affect all of us, mainly him, of course, but as parents and teenagers that we were, we know that it is a complicated stage for the whole family.
In view of this I have taken the time to talk to him about the difference between being in school and in high school, since from the subjects, to the fact that he will have a different teacher for each of them, everything, absolutely everything changes and as I did not want him to be taken unawares I thought it was very important to explain to him a little about how everything goes in high school.
He needs to understand that it is one of the most beautiful stages but also one of many changes. Friendships are consolidated and new bonds are created. In fact, for me it is the most important period for that, since part of the success in that academic level depends on our group of classmates.
Éste año escolar, como lo dije al inicio representa un nuevo reto para todos ya que Matías inicia el 7mo grado, es decir pasó a la etapa de bachillerato juntamente con la adolescencia, así que está en proceso de muchos cambios que nos afectan a todos, principalmente a él, claro está, pero como padres y adolescentes que fuimos, sabemos que es una etapa complicada para toda la familia.
En vista de esto me he tomado el tiempo de conversar con el sobre la diferencia de estar en la escuela y en liceo, ya que desde las materias, hasta que tendrán un profesor diferente para cada una de ellas, todo, absolutamente todo cambia y como no quería que lo tomase desprevenido me pareció súper importante explicarle un poco cómo va todo en el liceo.
Es necesario que entienda que es de las etapas más bonitas pero también de muchos cambios. Se consolidan amistades y se crean nuevos lazos. De hecho para mí es el periodo más importante para ello, ya que parte del éxito en ése nivel académico depende de nuestro grupo de compañeros.

Para mí, la vuelta al cole va mucho más allá; es prepararlos y hacerlos conscientes de sus responsabilidades, del trato que deben dar y más importante aún del que deben recibir y tolerar.
Es momento para que entiendan que sus mejores amigos siempre serán papá y mamá y que cualquier inquietud nadie como nosotros para darles la información correcta y acorde a sus edades y la verdad espero en Dios que cada palabra dicha haya quedado grabada en su mente y su corazón. Que sigan siendo niños respetuosos, responsables con sus estudios y grandes compañeros de clases pero que sobre todo disfruten muchísimo de ésta nueva etapa y se llenen de todo el aprendizaje posible.
