Cubanness is not something that is easily explained. It is more a way of being in the world, a mixture of custom, character and memory. It is in how we talk, how we solve, how we laugh even when there is not much reason. It's a way of living, of looking at things with a mix of seriousness and relaxation that only we understand.
It is also everything we carry, the good and the bad. It is the neighborhood, the food, the music, but also the tiredness and the desire to continue. Cubanness is that which comes out without thinking about it, when one acts, speaks or simply walks down the street. You don't need to say that you are Cuban, you can tell.

La cubanía no es algo que se explique fácil. Es más una forma de estar en el mundo, una mezcla de costumbre, carácter y memoria. Está en cómo hablamos, cómo resolvemos, cómo nos reímos incluso cuando no hay mucho motivo. Es una manera de vivir, de mirar las cosas con una mezcla de seriedad y relajo que solo nosotros entendemos.
También es todo lo que cargamos, lo bueno y lo malo. Es el barrio, la comida, la música, pero también el cansancio y las ganas de seguir. La cubanía es eso que sale sin pensarlo, cuando uno actúa, habla o simplemente camina por la calle. No hace falta decir que uno es cubano, se nota.
