Cooking Fried Catfish With Spicy Chily Sauce

Hi everyone, glad to see you again. It is about a few days after the last post, I kind of miss writing something. So this morning I don’t know what I’m going to do, my lazy sense is tingling right now. While I’m lying on my bad my mom told me to take her to the local stall about 5 mins from home, so I get along with it.

On my way to that local traditional shop, my om asked me what I’d like to eat, but I say I don’t know. Then she says “how about we cook some catfish with chili sauce”. Then I just agree with that suggestion, chili sauce is okay because I love spicy food.

Step 1 - Buy the catfish on the market 0.JPGoutside view local shop

My mom told me the small one taste better than the big one, I don’t think so I think she just wants to save some money hahaha (don’t tell my mom, it’s our secret)

The special thing about this local shop is they can clean the fish we buy before we take it home without additional cost, so we don’t have to worry about cleaning the fish ourselves.

clean the blood on the fish before we add some salt and fry it

After you clean the blood from the fish and clean some of the not used parts on that fish, boil some oil, don’t use it too much, just adjust it with how much fish you want to fry, if you don’t have enough, just fry them batchly.
Step 3 - Heat the oil.JPG

Put the fish on the boiling oil, and put it gently don’t ever throw it okay? Just trust me, it’s not good if you throw it. Wait for a while until the bottom part is well cooked, and flip it and wait some more until the bottom side and the upper side are well cooked.

Step 4 - Put the fish on to the boiling oil.JPG

Take the fish out of the frying pan, and fry it until the fish dry. Fry another batch of the fish until all fish is cooked.

Step 5 - Wait untill the fish is cooked and dry the oil.JPG

If you love vegetables, you can add some fried vegetables to add on the dish. In my case, I add the potato and some eggplant.
Step 6 -Fry some vegetable.

Step 7 - Blend the sambal.JPG

Prepare the ingredient for the chili sauce, I used green chili, some ginger, some onion, and blend them together. If you don’t like to use the blender, you can blend it manually with your hand using a traditional tool like “ulekan” in Indonesia

Stir fry the chili sauce until it cooks well enough. Add some salt and flavoring ingredients as much as you want. After it cooked, turn of the stove and let the chili sauce cooling down a bit before you mix it with the fish and the fried vegetables later.

Step 8 - Stir fry the sambal.JPG
Step 9 - Wait for the sambal to cooling down a bit.JPG

Mix the fried fish and vegetables with chili sauce until the chili sauce spread evenly. After that, you can put it on the plate and serve it for you or for your family.

I’m so sorry to tell you that I forgot to take the dish picture after I served it, I totally forgot because I can’t hold myself to start eating. Next time I won’t do something like this again. Forgive me okay.

So I will provide you some bonus photos when I shopping on that local shot, hope you like it.
