🦉 The common rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus)

📚 Carpodacus Greek: karpos fruit, daknō to bite
📚 erythrinus erythros (Greek, lat.) red

I met this bright red sparrow (namely, that is how they were called in the old days) I met on the coast where bushes grow along the coastline. And this, judging by his appearance, is noticeable, he is all disheveled and wet, he swam in the river.

Males are bright pink, and the older, the richer these colors in his plumage. And females can easily be confused with sparrows that are already familiar to everyone. They are brown and inconspicuous.
