The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)
Spring. The time when birds actively begin to prepare for the mating season. You can hear multiple bird voices in the background, especially their songs.
But this pair of black woodpeckers has already found each other. I found them near the river bank in a small light forest. There, on small hills, this pair flew close to each other.
The male has a long red cap on his head, similar to a garrison cap, or more like a mohawk. The female has a small red beret on the back of her head.
They examined the old fallen trees, and finding insects living in them, diligently pecked at the bark, fortunately, the bark was loose and collapsed very easily. And they also staged an assault on the anthill, where they ate their favorite delicacy.
