🦉 The Eurasian treecreeper or common treecreeper (Certhia familiaris)

These small, inconspicuous birds are easiest to see from autumn to spring. Especially in autumn they are most noticeable, when they fly through the forests together with other bird species in a mixed flock.
The bird crawls in a spiral along the tree trunk in search of food, and you can even hear the scratching of its claws on the bark.

The bird has a long and thin beak, with which it uses tweezers to extract insects and their larvae from under the bark. But in winter it becomes a bit difficult for this bird. After all, with this beak she cannot crack nuts and seeds, and insects are not often encountered. Therefore, in addition to the occasional insects it finds, it is forced to feed on small tree seeds, which it can swallow.
