Hello to all Splinterlands players! this is my entry for Social Media Challenge this is a popular event held by Splinterlands every week. The theme today is War Pegasus, New Monster from Soulbound Card reward. I only have it at level 3, it has a rarity rare, in this battle I can bring monsters with rarity rare at level 8. This card has 2 damage, 4 speed, 2 armor and 8 HP. Has armor shattered ability which is very useful in this battle ruleset.

This is a battle in the Modern Format Diamond League, I played with my scholar account from Balthazar.

The guide presents a strategy on how to advance through the ranks by utilizing reasonably priced or cheap-to-rent monsters that can still prove effective.

Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Going the Distance, Only a monster with a ranged attack can be used in this battle.
  • Armor up, all monsters get +2 armor.
  • Fury, all monsters have the Fury Ability.
    • Fury Ability, this Monster does double damage to targets with the Taunt ability.
  • Have mana cap 44.
  • We can choose the element Fire, Life, Death, and Dragon

My Lineup and strategy

We will first talk a bit about the monster theme in this battle War Pegasus :

At level 3 this monster has the ability Flying, and shattered armor at maks level he got demoralize which is very useful against melee type opponents, and all other stats increased.
Strength :

  • Good speed with Fly abilities have a higher chance to evade.
  • Armor Shattered, Will instantly destroy the armor of the enemy.
  • Flying will increase the chance to evade enemy melee and range attack by 25%.

Weakness :

  • No armor
  • Attack damage only 2
  • If got hit easy to die because have no ability defense like void or shield.

Based on the ruleset for this battle we have something to think off :

  1. If possible put a range monster with abilities to attack in the first position (Close Range Ability).
  2. Choose the summoner which can decrease speed and range attack or increase speed, armor, and range attack.
  3. Select a monster with a Flying/dodge ability and speed of at least 3 to put in the front.
  4. Better if the monster has armor and a big HP.
  5. Abilities Heal will help a lot in this battle.
  6. Bring a monster with the shattered armor ability.
  7. Make sure not to bring a monster with a taunt ability, it will die very fast.

In this battle we choose to use Dragon and Life elements, The Dragon Summoner can decrease the enemy speed and range attack by 1, Also have some good tanker monsters for this ruleset.
The other element besides the dragon we choose is Life, in Life element has many great range monsters, with many good abilities like Heal, Double Strike, shattered armor, Flying, etc.

This is our lineup from left (first position) to right (last position) :

Summoner/monster and SkillsDescription
Quick the Devious (summoner), Decrease all enemy monster speed and range damage by 1I think this is the best summoner for this battle. All monsters are range attackers so decreasing all range by 1 will decrease the attack power of the enemy a lot.
Zyvax Vuul, 1st position, tanker, and attacker. Has the ability to Flying, Recharge, Close Range, and DeathblowPlaced in the first position, with the ability close range can attack in this position, has the ability Flying and large HP, very useful to help him survive as long as possible protecting other monsters behind him. The weakness of this monster it attacks every 2 rounds, so we can only hope that this monster can last up to 2 rounds and can attack.
Gargoya Devil, 2nd position, 2nd tanker and attacker. Has the ability Flying Closed Range and Deathblow abilityPlaced in second place as a second tanker for the same reason as Zyvax Vuul but because it has a much smaller HP, it is placed in second position. The advantage of this monster it has armor and has considerable damage as much as 4..
Supply Runner 3rd position, attacker and support. Has the ability Swiftness and StrengthenPlaced in 3rd position because it has a high speed compared to other monsters. With high speed, we hope that there are enemy attacks that can be avoided. Unfortunately, this monster doesn't have the Flying ability. Has a very useful support skill Swiftness and strength which can increase the speed and HP by 1 of all of our monsters.
Pelacor Arbales. 4th position, attacker. Has Flying and double strike abilityHas total damage of 4, with Ability Double Strike every round this monster will attack 2 times. Event with the Ability Flying is placed behind the Supply Runner, because the damage is greater than Supply Runner we want this monster to survive longer.
Venari Crystalsmith, 5th position, attacker, and supportWith the Tank Heal ability, I hoped that it can extend the lifetime of monsters on the front
War Pegasus 6th position, AttackerPlaced in the last position because it has the ability Shattered Armor, which in my opinion will be very useful in battles with armored up rulesets. I hope that this monster can survive longer therefore it is placed in the safest position.

The Battle

As usual, the battle starts with buffs and debuffs
Round 1 :
We both used the same summoner, the difference was that the enemy brought Naga Assassin to give more speed, and we brought Venari Crystalsmith who can heal other monsters in the first place. the enemy monsters will be faster, but we can heal.

  • Enemy side :

    • The Lava Launcher killed by Gargoya Devil
  • Our Side :

    • No monsters die, Zyvax Vuul got healed by Venari Crystalsmith. Many attacks by the enemy can't hit the Zyvax Vuul. War Pegasus destroys the armor of 5 from the lava launcher.

Round 2 :

  • Enemy side :
    No monsters die.

  • Our Side

    • Zyvax Vuul die in this round killed by Gargoya Devil.

Round 3 :

  • Enemy side
    • Molten Ash Golem killed by Supply runner.
    • Gargoya Devil armor of 3 destroyed by War Pegasus and killed by our Gargoya Devil
  • Our Side
    • No Monsters die

Round 4 :

  • No monster dies in this round, our gargoya Devil is still alive and healed by Venari Crystalsmith.

Round 5 :

  • Enemy side
    • Supply Runner killed by our Supply Runner
    • Naga assassin killed by Pelacor arbalest
  • Our Side
    • No Monsters die

Here comes trouble, the last enemy has Return Fire and Heal abilities. With Return fire, our Range attack will be reflected back to our monster.

Round 6 :

  • Fortunately, we have an Armored up ruleset, with 5 monsters and Tank Heal from Venari Crystalsmith the enemy Cornelalus doesn't have a chance to kill our monsters.
Cornealus die in this round before having the chance to use Heal's ability, killed by Gargoya Devil.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy went well, the combination of the abilities Heal, Flying, Shattered Armor, and swiftness went well. The enemy has difficulty hitting our monsters, although has a faster speed. Enemies monsters who have large armor are easily destroyed by War Pegasus, and the Tank Heal ability really helps our tankers to survive longer. The enemy has a total of 15 attacks, 49 HP, and 21 armor and our monsters only have a total of 14 attacks, (Zyvax Vuul attacks every 2 rounds so we just count the damage only 2 per round), 38 HP, and 14 Armor. Even though we lose in terms of monster stats, we can win this battle by choosing the right ability.

If War Pegasus has level 8, it will be easier to win this battle.

For battles like this, of course, it's better if we use Summoner Ilthain, who has the ability to reflect ranged attacks. and deals damage to the attacker. But not everyone has or rents this card. so that our strategy this time is an alternative if we do not bring Ilthain summoner.

Other Position i want to try

Switching between Venari Crystalsmith and War Pegasus position put The Venari Crystalsmith at the last position I think better than my formation in this battle. The venari Crystalsmith can keep healing until the last monster we have.

Thank you, my friend, for taking the time to review my battle report. I appreciate your efforts and would be grateful if you could provide me with feedback on any mistakes you find by leaving a comment.
