I discovered a brutal scene of skeletal remains before swimming to a fog-shrouded island. While investigating a dead researcher, a terrifying Biter Chimera ambushed me. After dying once, I retried the encounter, grabbed weapons from my inventory, and desperately fought the creature before falling again.
I forced myself to get back on the right track, pushing forward until I stumbled upon a truly brutal scene that shook me to my core. I looked down and saw only skeletons with clean bones. It was clear the infected made sure to have a good feast on them, leaving nothing behind but an empty campsite.
After witnessing that horror, I realized I needed to get to a nearby island because it looked like the Chimera had headed right in that direction. I decided to swim over there, as that was the only real thing I could do to pass the deep water.
As I drew closer to the shore, it looked like the atmosphere on this island was completely different from the mainland. The air was thick and filled with a heavy fog, and I immediately got an incredibly eerie vibe from the place. It was so bad that I could not even see a little distance of the island clearly.
I kept moving through the gloom, telling myself it was time to find the Chimera, though I was full of hesitation. As I searched the area, I found a dead body slumped on the ground. It looked like the body of a researcher. I decided to investigate him to see if he left anything behind.
Just as I started investigating the body, a dramatic cinematic triggered. Kyle looked around anxiously, and I guessed that something dangerous was coming for us.
He just heard the sudden noise of someone moving fast, and I realized this was the Chimera. It looked exactly like a regular biter, but it was far more aggressive.
Man, the whole thing was absolutely scary. I could not even get a real chance to shoot at it properly because the thing just jumped straight on me without warning. Right when I finally managed to stand my ground and started shooting back, it quickly escaped into the mist.
Before I could breathe, I saw there were infected coming straight at me. I was already fighting a terrified chimera who turned out to be a biter, but there came some regular infected to add to my burden.
Well, it tried to jump on me again, but I managed to move to another side just in time, and I guessed I survived for the briefest moment. I actively shot at it real good this time, landing a heavy hit right on the head.
But it took me down instead.
Fortunately, I was glad that I did not respawn all the way back at the beginning of the map. I was right back at the moment just before the cinematic triggered, so I resolved to be much more careful this time.
Yeah, the very first thing I did upon respawning was running away to create some distance, because I already knew exactly what was going to happen.
This terrifying thing was officially called a Mist, and man, it was giving me the real creeps. I looked at it jumping wildly on me again as I scrambled for safety.
I was just glad that I managed to claim some powerful weapons from my inventory during the chaos. Now, I just hoped I would make it out of there in one piece.
I opened fire, but the creature overwhelmed my defenses, and yeah, I died again.
