The tension reached a breaking point as Drax cornered the priest, his hands locked around the man's throat. He was determined to find the Matriarch.
The Guardians jumped into action to prevent a murder. Peter, Groot and Gamora grabbed Drax's arms, trying to pry his fingers loose, but the Destroyer remained immovable despite their best efforts.
While the others grappled with Drax, Rocket stayed back. Peter yelled at the rodent to help. Rocket sighed and darted forward, but instead of using a gadget, he sank his teeth into Drax's leg.
Drax's patience finally snapped. With a surge of strength, he flexed his muscles and shoved everyone away. Drax stood alone, breathing heavily and looking ready to crush anything that moved toward him.
As the Guardians scrambled up, Mantis appeared. Unlike the panicked group, she was in a chilling mood, drifting into the scene with a calm. She looked at the angry Destroyer with curiosity rather than fear.
Mantis engaged him with a fluid grace. Drax tried heavy blows, but she slipped past his fists as if she knew his moves ahead of time. It was strange to see the warrior unable to land a single graze on her.
The fight shifted when Mantis revealed special blades from her hands. She began a fierce offensive with precise, powerful strikes that caught Drax off balance. She moved with an intensity that showed she was a highly capable fighter.
Finding an opening, Mantis pressed her fingers against Drax's abdomen. She sent a wave of energy through his system. The rage vanished instantly, and he slumped to the floor completely unconscious.
The Guardians stood frozen, staring at Mantis. They were surprised to see her in action and shocked at how easily she had put the Destroyer to sleep.
Mantis made Drax awake with her command, and he started listening to her. As he sat up, the fire was gone from his spirit. He looked at her with obedience, ready to follow her instructions.
