After restarting inside the Town Hall, Kyle spoke with Sheriff and Jacob, where he volunteered to investigate the power plant at Recreation Island. O then ziplined across the city, took a ranger truck, fought off a booster clinging to my windshield only to crash into a bridge. I even had to jump into the river just as the vehicle exploded.
After restarting the game inside the Town Hall, I went to Sheriff but found Jacob at her office door who was talking to somebody but it looked like he was waiting for me only.
The Sheriff explained that the town's main power plant went dark a month ago, and two previous ranger squads sent to investigate had completely disappeared. With no one else stepping up to volunteer, Kyle offered to head to Recreation Island himself to inspect the plant, making no promises but agreeing to do what he could.
Before leaving the area, I spoke with a local shopkeeper named Doug. He shared intel about a nearby supply stash that a squad had tried to grab a few hours earlier, opening up a new side quest.
Remembering the window exit on the front side of the Town Hall, I made my way out of the building and began traversing the city. I used a zipline to cross a massive gap between rooftops, making steady progress toward the island.
Along the path, I came across a park ranger truck with a decent amount of fuel, so I hopped in to speed up the journey. Mid-drive, a fast-moving booster infected jumped onto the hood and began clawing at the windshield. I swerved repeatedly to shake her off.
I lost control of the vehicle shortly after as the truck slammed directly into the brick railing of a bridge, catching fire upon impact.
When I was trying to push the vehicle, I noticed there was a biter right beside the vehicle and I didn't want to fight her there.
As the vehicle got some hard damage, it got fire on it but I still could drive it a little far when some infected behind the vehicle were caught in the fire.
Realizing the danger, I quickly bailed out and leaped off the vehicle. The truck exploded right when I jumped out of it, taking out several surrounding infected.
Knowing it'd not be ideal for me to fight a bridge full of infected, I jumped of the bridge into the deep water below and saved myself.
