Almost at the deadline, but here it goes, my opinion on this week's Share your battle challenge, with the theme being... the Silvershield Warrior!
I remember I used to use it quita a lot in Splinterland's early days. Nowadays... not so much. And why? Because there are a lot more options for an off-tank and better ones, such as the manticore, or the luminous eagle. By the way, I'm labelling him as off-tank because having the reach ability, that's where I normally use it: in the second position, behind the main tank.
Nevertheless, this card has some strong points:
- low mana; with only 4 many, it's an easy fit in low mana matches and in Little league ruleset
- good armor, especially at higher levels: 3 from level 6 onwards, so if you add 2 bonus from Tyrus we have a respectable 5 armour
- the reach ability
Where do I normally use it:
- low mana matches
- Little league ruleset
- Reverse speed ruleset (an advantage here, because even at max level he only has speed 2)
- weak magic ruleset: having decent armor helps a lot here!
Struggled to find a match where I could use it... but was able to find one and be victorious!
Rules:
- Reverse speed
- Even numbers only
Strategy:
- low speed monsters
- Cyclops in the back: good damage and stun
- a chicken in the rear to absorb sneak attacks
- strong tank
- the Silvershield warrior in the second position
- armorsmith just for the repair ability
To be fair, the teams were clearly unbalanced. The Cerebrus went down on round I, so the kobold miner didn't even sneaked once.
On the second position, the Silvershield warrior was vulnerable to the blast damage, but he was strong enough to endure it.
And proceeded to strike the miner.
From here, as the opposite team lost the two melee attackers, it was an easy win.
So there you have it, my (only) battle with this card this week!
Speaking of unbalanced teams... is it just me or more and more I'm seeing teams with a mixed deck of maxed cards and level 1 cards?? I wouldn't find it strange if it was just one level 1 card, but it's not the case. New bots? Any ideas?
