Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
Buns the Unseen is a rare Neutral unit from the Arena Vanguard set of cards. It is inspired by the Splinterlands content creator Buns Bags and Caps. He is, in my opinion, the best off tank or reserve tank in the Frontier especially against magic teams. Why that is so is the content of today's post. We'll go over his lore, his stats & abilities as well as show a battle where he was used effectively.
Buns is described as a mysterious traveler who walks roads hidden from ordinary eyes. He appears when the boundaries between realms begin to weaken, carrying maps to places unknown to scholars and wearing armor marked with ancient emerald runes. A guardian spirit follows him, and nobody is quite sure whether he is searching for forgotten power or protecting secrets that were never meant to be discovered.
Buns the Unseen is an eleven mana Neutral card. Being neutral means he can be used by all splinters in their line up. At maxed level he has decent damage of two melee and three speed. His defense is good and he can even play as the main tank with eight armor and six health. It's his abilities that make him good though. He has the Reach ability that allows him to play in second position and take the main tank duties once the tank in front of him gets defeated. He has Void Armor that blocks magic attacks. Lastly, he has Silence that debuffs the enemy magic attackers. He's a great second position unit that can be used by all splinters and an anti magic unit to boot.
The featured battle was between player Silentwill who had a level two Buns the Unseen in his team against player Thanatose who used a Water magic team. Silentwill used the Death archon and had four mana Spellmonger as the main tank. The ruleset was Equalizer so it makes sense to use low mana units for tank duties. In second position was Buns the Unseen who can attack with melee with Reach ability. Further, his Void Armor ability will block magic attacks first before his health gets damaged. The next two units were filler to absorb damage and his last two units were his magic damage dealers composed of Sorrow Harvester and Little Sister.
His enemy, Thanatose used a water magic team with legendary Mystic Scaleweaver and epic Saltwater Mage as his main damage dealers. Silentwill's team made the early kills but Thanatose was catching up because of his Sorrow Harvester who was attacking the rear. When Mystic Scaleweaver was defeated, it also meant that the battle was won in Silentwill's favor.
