I'm trying to figure out how I really feel here. Am I in a never ending hallway? Doors on each side, closed, stay out! Stay on the path of the carpeted hallway! Never look to one side or the other! March!

I used to feel that my days were full of marching, or looking back on those days now, I should say, I see a lot of marching, following orders. How did I ever do that?

Get the kids up, get them fed, clothed, cleaned up, book bagged, to the bus on time, all three of them! I'd take a small spate of time to have coffee and breakfast, then off I flew to jobs, lessons, appointments, errands, chores, and other mundane tasks, until it was time to be The Mother again: all three kids home, homework, lessons, practices, dinner, bath, bedtime. Whew!

I'm retired. My coffee time is now two hours, or more, of blogging on Hive. This is another never ending hallway if ever there was one, but the doors are open, inviting me in. So many doors! So much to see! To do! To say and be heard! I mean, it's a heavenly hallway.

I have stepped out of the narrow unending hallway I was in before, with the hubby, the house, the kids, the reputation to upkeep, the forms to fill out, the proving of self to drive my car or get a pet, to receive medical care, to use a credit card at the grocery store, the people to please, the doctors to obey, the school admins to obey, the government to obey, other young mothers to obey.

I don't know what else to say. Step out of the boundaries that are being enforced on you. Live from your own source. And say no. A lot.

Off to Tai Chi!

This is my entry to mariannewest@mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is never ending hallway. I used e.ggtimer and was done in five, with one more minute of proofreading.

Just be ready, when you do say no, for this kind of crap.
