Sometimes I think feltbuzz@feltbuzz has chosen the daily prompt just for me. One time there was a whole slew of them in a row that seemed to be begging for my opinion on a matter of importance to me. Today's prompt "inject the poison" is sure another. How could I resist?

We know the body has natural methods of protecting itself from substances that are poisonous to it. If the substance enters through the mouth, all sorts of bodily organs are designed to help remove the substance, or to redirect its action so that it does no, or at least less, harm to the body. Poisonous contact with the skin? Rashes are thought to be methods to remove toxins from entering more deeply and doing terrible harm. Through the air? Those lovely lungs filter out bad stuff, then give you a good cough to get it out. You gotta love your hairy noses.

Injecting toxins directly into the flesh and the blood stream bypasses all the body's natural mechanisms to protect it from poisoning. Next time you're thinking of getting a jab of anything, think of this.

This is my entry to mariannewest@mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is inject the poison. I used e.ggtimer set for five minutes, wrote until it went off, then made a few proofreading corrections without changing any content.
