Sauce is a very important ingredient at home, especially hot sauce, which I love to keep on hand. Because when enjoying fried tofu or tempeh, I always enjoy it with sauce. Well, coincidentally, yesterday I bought a lot of dragon fruit, and I thought about making a sauce from dragon fruit peel.

The recipe for a sauce made from dragon fruit peel is said to have a brighter and more beautiful color without the need for artificial coloring. So without further ado, I immediately prepared the ingredients and decided to try it.

Ingredients

1 dragon fruit peel
1 tomato
5 curly chilies
3 bird's eye chilies
1 onion
1 shallot
7 cloves of garlic
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon mushroom stock

Procedure

Chop all ingredients, including the dragon fruit peel, into small pieces, discarding the hard outer skin.

Serve the sauce with fried foods or enjoy your favorite moe (rice cakes). This sauce is spicy and savory with a slight sourness from the tomatoes. I really like its smooth texture, just like store-bought sauce. And I think it's much healthier because it's homemade without preservatives.

As for shelf life, I stored this sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, and the sauce was still very tasty without losing its flavor and aroma. At room temperature, it only lasted three days, because I deliberately made this sauce without being too oily to achieve the perfect balance. If you like it sweet, you can add a little sugar. I prefer a spicy and savory sauce, which tastes even better when dipped in fried foods.
