If you're craving a fried snack during the cold weather, I think this is the perfect dish to try at home.

I often serve this vegetable snack, known as bakwan, at home. I've made it in various variations. I find this snack never fails. It always has an authentic taste with a variety of flavors in each dish.

This time, the bakwan is different. I saw it on social media some time ago, where they put the bakwan in wonton skins and then fried them. What made me love it is that they added shrimp to complement the flavor. It may seem simple, but you have to try this recipe because it's that delicious.

The combination of vegetables, shrimp, and simple spices makes this snack incredibly delicious. The added flavor and texture of the bakwan, enjoyed hot, are truly appetizing. I was initially hesitant to try this snack, but I think it's worth a try.

Fry until golden brown, using low heat as the skins can burn easily.

Serve while still warm so the wonton skin retains its crunch. One mistake I made was adding the filling too thickly, which made the texture soft on the inside; you should add just a thin layer for a better result.

It tastes delicious; despite its simple appearance, it is savory with just the right amount of spiciness, and the texture of the bakwan really stands out. It is best enjoyed while still hotthat is when it tastes absolutely perfect.

So, this dish is very easy to make—the process is simple to follow. You can use wonton wrappers of any shape; I personally prefer the round ones, which is why I made them this way. You can adjust everything to suit your own taste.
