What separates me from most creations (on hive) is that I enjoy what I do–which is creating content, and I could do it for free. I was doing it for free before I discovered the platform four years ago.
I started my writing journey over a decade ago with the sole purpose of connecting with people, either through my poetry or short stories, which in retrospect were pretty awful. Reading some of them now makes me cringe, but I am also proud of some of the things I have written.
I have written some decent pieces in my lifetime. It is a dream to someday collect all my poems and put them in a book. It would be a great disservice to let them float in the void called the internet. I will start doing that today and maybe I will be inspired to start writing poems again. I do miss that creative side of myself and wonder if that part of me still exists.
Writing has been an integral part of my life. It has helped me through some very difficult times. It has also made me decent money via hive. Everything I have today came from writing and it unsettles me to some degree because I cannot call myself a professional writer. Yes I am a blogger and that's a cool title to wear these days but once upon a time it wasn't, and it took extra effort to explain what I do for a living.
I thought my writing phase was over. At some point in my life making money was my only goal because not having it disrupted my life in so many ways, but I am grateful for the fact that I have another hustle that takes care of my money problems (to some degree). This allows me to live out my dream.
If I do have any advice for anyone reading this piece it would be to stick to the thing you love and care about. We currently live in a world where people are constantly reinventing themselves, taking up jobs they do not like to make money. I do understand that's a sacrifice most people have to make, I am doing so myself. However, it is also important to grow in the things you love.
One of my greatest inspirations in recent times and a prime example of growing in the thing that you love has been Keith Lee. There is so much about him that resonates with me. He is a Christian, a creator, and has a passion for helping people. He has used his platform to help many small businesses, and he started with nothing. This is the sort of legacy I want to have as well.
The goal is to find something you enjoy doing, and while doing it impact other people's lives. At the end of the day, we are all here to serve. Through service, we enrich ourselves and the people in our sphere. When we do realize that serving others is a pathway to abundance, life becomes more purposeful. Cheers!
