Good morning hivers how are you? Yesterday, as I said in my last post dedicated to the recipe for a good winter soup (look for it on my blog), my husband and I treated ourselves to a little trip, we decided to return to a place where I often went when I was young because my best friend lived there.
Scandicci, a municipality in the province of Florence but far from the center in the most peripheral area, a very modern town with lots of new and fascinating architecture. First we visited one of the new churches in the place, an imposing church dedicated to Santa Maria, in reality it is not that new because it belonged to an ancient Florentine countess but it was restored in the mid-twentieth century and now has a modern look and a large facade with really beautiful porticoes, the square in front is also very pretty, it's a shame that the weather wasn't the best otherwise it's a nice place to stop and eat on the benches.
We continued our walk through the central streets of the city, made up of rather small huts typical of the Tuscan area separated by parks and green spaces. We also saw some magnificent buildings, both municipal and more modern buildings, large buildings suitable for the increase in population increasingly looking for accommodation near the city. The town here also winds along tributaries of the beautiful Arno and is divided between modern and practical buildings and ancient churches and narrow streets, a very pretty town, we then continued further towards a more industrial but very fascinating area called Osmannoro which I will talk about later.
