Nami works for a very important record label, one of the most prestigious in the music industry. He earned his job through his talent and skills, discovering, promoting, and funding musical talent. In a way, he's a talent scout. He reviews all the applications the label receives, choosing the best artists to help each other. The label isn't his; he's just an employee, but he's one of the most respected executives there due to his experience and high standards.
He has repeatedly demonstrated the extent of his talent, having found some of the best singers among the thousands of applications the label receives daily from around the world. Thanks to these past successes, he has earned so much respect and prestige. Everyone within the organization knows he's the best at what he does, and if a singer is chosen to work with them, it's because they are truly exceptional.
He's had a lot of freedom within the record label ever since; he's a quality control supervisor and can choose or reject anyone. He reports to his bosses, who are in charge of finances and other matters. But unbeknownst to Nami, a power struggle is brewing among the executives to decide what to do with him, as not everyone wants him at the label anymore.

What was happening was this: in the past, he had been very successful at finding great talent and choosing them from the crowd. But now, after several years since his initial successes, there's a noticeable slowdown in the number of candidates he's selecting for the record label. He hasn't actually become slower; it's something else. Nami has high standards for quality when choosing someone, so if no one meets them, he doesn't choose anyone and waits until the next day to see if there's someone better to finance.
Apparently, there's less talent now than before, so he's choosing more slowly. He prefers to choose the best, even if he has to wait. He's not going to offer candidates just to meet some quota of singers or anything like that; quality over quantity. So, several executives don't understand this and his approach. Several want more results, more singers, more money circulating. It's a problem because they're pressuring Nami to change his way of choosing singers.
This war between the executives is very complicated; several want to fire him because they don't see why he should keep him if he doesn't offer more singers, others, more moderate, want to wait and see if he increases the number of singers he chooses later on, and then there are those who want him to stay where he is because his high standards are what have helped the record label maintain its world-class quality.

Thanks to pressure from the moderates, he wasn't fired, but the pressure was certainly felt. Several of the more overbearing managers approached him behind the other managers' backs and threatened him. They told him that if he didn't offer more singers soon, he would be replaced, as they weren't going to pay him for doing nothing. These managers were abusing their power because the other executives hadn't approved such a threat. Nami felt very pressured, but he made it clear that he wouldn't lower his high standards just because someone wanted to see more quantity.
The managers were furious because they didn't like his perfectionist nature, but they couldn't fire him. Nami knew he needed to find good talent soon to appease those fools who knew nothing about music and only thought about money. Even so, he was well aware that he was prepared to be fired; his reputation and quality were more important than pleasing a few bosses.
Fortunately, things turned out well some time later. Among thousands of applicants, he found two singers. These singers were true hidden gems because no one else had offered them funding and almost no one knew them. But Nami reviewed their previous work and knew there was potential there.

Those two singers, after receiving help from the record label through his intermediary, became very famous and were the flagship acts of the company. This increased the popularity of the record label and of Nami himself as the best talent scout. The evil bosses had to apologize and admit that he was right all along: quality over quantity. Now he has more freedom in his work than before.
