My response to the @Indiaunited Contest Theme- : "Does money really change people, or does wealth simply reveal who they were all along?"
From no wealth to lot of wealth do change people for sure. They will never be the same. No wealth means living in a state of scarcity, whereas abundant wealth means living in a state of abundance. They are 2 different energies and with that everything changes. One cannot have the same life and behaviour in these 2 different energy levels. But it does not always mean that the person changes for bad. The change can also be good, it all depends on the personality of the person.
There can be someone who on receiving wealth can become egoistic and indifferent towards other people, and there can also be people who with receiving wealth can become more humble and caregiving towards others. It does change people but it can be for good also. Money does not always make people bad, it can also make people good. Someone who has always struggled for money and when that person gets a fortune with their hard work, they understand the importance of it. They will change and at the same time they will also try to help others.
In India we have two very classic examples. There is Tata Family and there is Adani Family or an Ambani family the Tata family has always believed in growth not only of themselves but others also. Majority of their earnings goes in charity and they uplift people. Late Mr. Ratan Tata, he was such a humble person, lived a simple life and never made absurd display of wealth. Whereas the Ambani and Adani family are the opposites. They make absurd display of wealth and make people around them feel small. Humbleness is far away from them. Here you see complete contrast in what money can do to people.
Also I believe that people with generational wealth are more grounded then those with new wealth. Again here we can take the example of Tatas and Ambanis. Tatas are generational wealth, whereas Ambanis have made it only in the last 3 decades. At the end of the day I feel it's the character of the person that decides how they handle money.
