I captured this photo in a traditional Iranian village called Rahzan near Arak. The atmosphere of the village and the architecture of the houses have remained authentic and traditional.
In the courtyard of the local mosque, there was an old TV set next to the doorway, leading to a narrow alley behind it. When I framed this composition, I immediately had the feeling that this one could be my winning photo, but something was still missing. It needed a human element; it needed a person passing through this door to make it come alive.
As a safe side, I made a shot without people first, so if it turned out bad, I would not be disappointed. Then I waited a bit, and some people passed through this alley, but none of them were suitable for my vision. Finally, this local woman passed, and I knew that she was the one who could complete the shot!
