I have decided to create a small application for a long time that would allow me to place watermarks on photos easily. I post a photo every day, and it was a problem for me to use different applications for color adjustment and watermarking because it was too slow, and, as you might guess, I am a lazy person.
You might know me as an artist and a photographer, but I am about 30% tech guy since, in my Instagram stories, I show not only my art and photos but also the robotic head for 360 product photo capturing. Also, I have a degree in computer hardware engineering from college. But before college, I did graphic design and made animations. While in college, I met my friends, and we started to make animations. We were pioneers in 3D animation; 32 years ago, we made a 6-minute and 40-second 3D animated film using 3D Studio 2 on DOS. Then, I started to work in the animation industry and later transitioned to working in TV commercials.
In college, I got an A+ in C programming. I was good at coding but not that good at hardware engineering. Also, being a lazy programmer, I tried to find a way to make my work shorter and automatize some of the repetitive tasks. For example, I used to make applications like 3DS MAX, Photoshop, and After Effect scripts to automatize the process.
But I am digressing; let me get back to the actual topic. My laziness forced me to spend a whole day coding a simple application for my own needs. This application would be able to cover all the functions I needed in one place and be highly customizable and intuitive.
So, I decided to turn to the best coder in the world, Claude, and told him what I wanted. The first version of my application was born!
As you can see, the first version looks nice, but the watermark is too big, the photo is not in the center, and the fonts are messed up. So, I decided to tell Claude about the errors, and the second version was born!
The second version looked much better and had some additional features! The most critical one was the option to save the last file path so that you do not need to open the file explorer each time you launch the application. When working with photos, sometimes you have a couple of pictures to edit, and it is a pain in the ass to open them one by one every hour.
So, I decided to come up with some additional features and told Claude to develop them step by step. Several versions were released with different bugs fixed and some additional features added one after another.
Finally, since I am an artist, I decided to ask Claude to make some beautiful UI for the app and showed some examples of bar designs and buttons. I also asked to release both dark and light themes (even though I always use dark). I continued developing the application, adding some more settings, and released several more versions in about 24 hours!
It would take me at least a month to code this application on my own, so I am genuinely impressed by Claude’s team of developers; they are leagues ahead of the competition and have by far the best product in the market for such needs.
So, currently, my application covers all my needs in photo editing and makes them super intuitive and simple.
So, my friend, would you be ready to pay for such an application to help support the development, or would you not?
and How much do you pay for this fast utility app ?
You might say that you can do all these functions in Photoshop or some other editing applications, but trust me, one of the best and most practical apps is usually made by a graphic designer, not by a programmer!
So, my app combines all the best things from different apps but in one simple interface and removes all the unnecessary stuff like file opening and searching for the next or previous file after you edited the current one. Since I am a lazy person, I do not like naming my files, so my app adds a suffix to the file automatically when saving. You can also choose to save the file next to the original file. Also, when you export the file in black and white, it adds BW to the end of the file.
In other apps, you need to set the watermark position, but here, you set it once, and it is on all your photos until you decide to change it. There is also an invert function so that dark watermarks will be on light photos and vice versa.
The sizes are set for a preview, but almost all functions are customizable and save your preferences. So if you closed the app or your computer crashed, you can continue working on your photo.
Once again, because I am a lazy person, I do not like going back to my previous folder where my photos are, so my app saves your last session so that you do not need to go back to your photos folder each time you launch the app.
Color balance can be adjusted manually or automatically. Also, the white balance can be set with one click on any white or gray surface in the photo, which is much faster and easier than in other apps like Photoshop or any other photo editing software.
For people who like black and white or chromatic effects, there is a one-click option to make the photo look black and white!
There is also a section where you can save your presets so that if you have a set of color adjustments that you like to use for a series of photos, you can use them fast, even if you worked on another project in the meantime and do not want to lose your precious time.
I always had a problem with straightening photos; it always seemed like that function was not well organized, and you had to dig through many options to find it. Some apps like Lightroom can straighten photos automatically when you rotate the image, but sometimes you miss that function, and you have to crop the photo anyway. In my app, you have a function to straighten the photo, which automatically crops the image so that you will not have any black borders around your photo.
Also, there is a manual option if you want to crop some of the borders.
Finally, I added some noise reduction tool that every photographer will like. Every photo, even the best one, will have some noise, and that is normal since no camera is perfect. So, with that handy and quick tool, you can remove some of the noise without spending a lot of time adjusting all the settings.
All the menus can be collapsed or turned off so that you have a full-screen preview of your photo, just like in the last picture!
and again ! pay for such an application ?
