Happy new week to everyone here. I hope we are enjoying good health and weather. We had one of the most rigorous workdays on the farm on Saturday. And because it was the weekend, we had more time to work on the farm than on usual days. We are able to finally complete the weeding of our okra farm. We had more people who volunteered to join us in the weeding; it made everything faster.

In the meantime I have blogged about how the okra plants are at the flowering state and that we will be seeing some fruits in no time. This happened faster than I thought, and while weeding, I already spotted some okra. With this, we can start harvesting. Although there will only be a handful at the start, which will not be enough for sale at the market, as time goes on, more of the plants will produce more fruits for harvest. I learned that one can harvest a basketful of okra from here per day if the crops produce well.

While hoping to get laborers to farm our corn farm, we equally decided to clear off more space here for planting more veggies. We found some more spots a little bit further away from the riverbank, and no matter how flooded the river may become, it can hardly get here. Besides the heavy rains, flooding often comes in the month of July upward.

Meaning that we can still utilize this land space for quality use before that time. After clearing the space, the stronger men cultivated the land into small bed portions. Often times vegetables are planted in bed portions like this for easy circulation of water since irrigation is often utilized in periods of no rain. And if peradventure there will be any drought in between the rains, the generators will be deployed to wet the crops.

Having prepared the land like this , the next thing is planting. Though I'm not sure of what will be planted yet, either jute mallow, some lettuce 🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬, or more spinach vegetables. How I wish that we could plant some lettuce! I so much love lettuce and would love to be engaged in growing some so that we can get familiar with how to grow lettuce.

Cabbages 🥬🥬 are grown here; I don't know the reason why, even though lettuce flourishes here very well. Only a few gardeners grow these here. The bulk of what is growing here is the spinach and jute mallow.
