Footsteps came down the bus; Charlie noticed as it was meant for him.
"Hey Charlie, come on. Why did you stop?"
"Let's go back home; we will watch the movies on another day," Charlie replied.
"No, I am not that foolish to waste the tickets. If you don't wanna go, then get lost." Rahad walked onto the bus in an angry mood.
Charlie tries to bring him off the bus, but Rahad won't; he will definitely go to the cineplex. Charlie did mention his weird feeling that the bus was going to meet with an accident on its way, and that's the reason why Charlie decided not to go. Rahad won't step into this trap; he won't be fooled by Charlie's words and will stay back on the bus.
The bus meets with an accident in real, and everyone in his school gets to know about this weird incident or coincidence that Charlie has anticipated. This is not the first time; many more incidents came out when a full investigation was done on him. Yeap, things went too far. Charlie's response was short and precise, "I heard my footsteps going backward, and I never disobeyed them; I have always followed them, and they have protected me."
"Has he heard his footsteps? What's this?"
It all started in his childhood when he was eight years old, and he disappeared while playing. He was lost, nowhere to be found. He went towards the highway that was 400 meters away from his playground. Before anyone could notice him, he was in the middle of the highway, and two trucks were approaching, one of which had a brake failure issue.
Charlie feels a rush of footsteps going through him as if someone ran towards him and went through his body, and it created a reflected action to step away from the highway, and thus he was saved from that truck by a few seconds. Everyone was astonished by his sudden movement, as if he was hypnotized and suddenly came back to his senses.
Since that day, he often hears those footsteps, guides him, and shows him the potential risks that might harm him. Once, twice, and more, he observed that thing; it never gave a false alert. After a few observations, Charlie started to follow it blindly.
After a few months, Charlie woke up in the middle of the night; he heard footsteps near his window. Louder than before, scary as hell, he got frightened as he hadn't experienced anything like this before. This time the footsteps were pointing outside the window. He won't be following blindly to jump, as jumping from here would be as equal to committing suicide. He is on the fourth floor of the building; if not dead, he is going to be cripple for sure. Charlie could sense a negative vibe in the air; something unpleasant would happen, but he didn't want to embrace it by jumping from there.
Charlie rushed toward the door to take the stairs and get out of the building. This time the footsteps came with a breeze that threw him away from the door, and he got scared. It never tried to force on him, and now it felt like it would kill him if he didn't jump through the window.
Charlie, with a heavy voice," If I jump through this window, I will die. You have always saved me, then why are you doing this to me now? Lemme go, please."
The footsteps went through his body again; he was able to feel this just like he did in his childhood. This time, he acted like he was hypnotized, and he jumped through the window and ended up in the hospital.
Charlie won't be able to walk anytime soon; it would take years to get cured. As soon as he regained consciousness, he started to look for answers, and then he discovered that there was a terrorist attack in his building, and every resident was killed brutally by them.
Charlie took a deep breath and said, "Here, it has saved me again." It was the last time Charlie heard those footsteps. Maybe any of the unsaid rules were broken that departed their ways.
